So I'm just home from talking to some school children about engineering, helping them to understand the value and dynamic engineers bring to an organisation. For some it's all about the bottom line, however engineers have a differnt mindset and way of thinking. Engineering is the application of scientific and mathematical principles to design, develop, and maintain structures, equipment, systems, and processes to solve practical problems. Engineers use their knowledge and skill to create solutions that meet specific needs in various fields such as civil, mechanical, electrical, chemical, aerospace, and software engineering, among others. Engineering involves the application of creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to design, analyse, and improve complex systems. Engineers work on a wide range of projects, from aircraft to the designing of bridges and buildings in order to develop new technologies, improving production processes, and create sustainable solutions for environmental challenges. Overall, engineering plays a crucial role in shaping the world around us and improving the quality of life by creating innovative solutions to address societal needs and challenges. I am eternally greatful for the engineering training and experience that I have had. It has helped to earn me the respect of my peers and to become the engineer that I am today.
