In early June, some of our team members used their volunteer hours to join beach cleanup efforts at Hampton Beach, NH, alongside several other local B Corps and the Blue Ocean Society. Together, they were able to collect over 56lbs of trash from the area. We are so grateful to our collective for continuing to show up and use our volunteer paid time off benefit to give back to their local communities. Thank you MegaFoodies!

Happy 4th! Celebrating the Fourth of July responsibly can make a significant positive impact on both the environment and the community. Instead of buying polluting firecrackers, consider these alternatives: 🇺🇸 Donate to Food Banks: Buy a bag of food for your local food bank or shelter. This not only helps those in need but also fosters a sense of community. 🇺🇸 Eco-Friendly Decorations: Use reusable or biodegradable decorations for your celebration. This reduces waste and is better for the environment. 🇺🇸 Community Clean-Up: Organize or participate in a community clean-up event. It’s a great way to give back and ensure that public spaces remain clean and enjoyable for everyone. 🇺🇸 Plant a Tree: Planting trees is a wonderful way to contribute to the environment. It’s a long-lasting tribute to Independence Day that benefits future generations. 🇺🇸 Buy food for animal shelters: Even a small bag of food goes a long way in helping our furry pals. 🇺🇸 Light Sparklers: If you still want some traditional fun, opt for sparklers. They are less polluting than large fireworks and can be enjoyed safely. By choosing these alternatives, you can celebrate the Fourth of July in a way that respects both the environment and your community. Thank you 🙏🏼♥️🇺🇸

🌊What does the ocean mean to you?🌊 For the last few hours of World Ocean Day 2024, let's take a moment to think about the services our blue planet provides for us. For me, completing university on the Cornish coastline meant having a soothing blue haven on my doorstep, to recover from the challenges of university life, to connect with nature, and spend many happy evenings on the beach with friends listening to the sound of the waves. In fact, the ocean is scientifically proven to improve mental health in humans. Looking further afield, in our troubled climate, the ocean takes most of the impact for us. Heatwaves would hit much harder if the sea didn't store as much thermal energy as it does. Tsunamis would be far more damaging if it weren't for coral reefs and mangroves absorbing wave energy. These impacts might be a little hard to imagine, especially if they're far from home. So take a moment to think, what does the ocean offer to you? How do you feel when you're by the sea? Let's keep forging a strong connection between people and the ocean, to celebrate and safeguard our blue planet. #WorldOceanDay
Cornwall is famous for its incredible coastline, and our surrounding seas are just as magnificent. From the weird and wonderful creatures in our rockpools 🦀 to megafauna like basking sharks 😲, we are doing all we can to protect the wildlife in our waters. Today, on #WorldOceanDay 🌊 , why not find out more about all we're doing and how you can get involved. From volunteering to making good seafood choices, everyone can help make a difference. We had an incredible time celebrating the achievements of our amazing scholars at the Starfish Senior Celebration! A special shoutout to our two Starfish Scholars, who are recipients of the Mike Feeney Scholarship. Thanks to our donors' generosity, we could offer this scholarship for the first time ever. It was truly inspiring to hear from former mentors and scholars, sharing their journey with Starfish Initiative—a perfect example of the impact of our mission and the strength of our community. #StarfishInitiative #YouthEmpowerment

Think of all the promises of Electric Cars: less pollution, less maintenance, fewer hazardous materials transported everywhere. Now use bicycles as your basis for comparison. All that multiplied by 1000, fewer traffic deaths, greater access to lower income populations, and individuals can easily gain the skills and tools to maintain their own vehicles. Every person we can get a bicycle to is changing the future.
As one of our test riders in Kenya, Mercy exposes Buffalo components to environments we can’t recreate in lab settings and identifies real-world problems. Her role is vital as we continuously work to evolve and innovate the bike to meet the needs of rural communities. When she's not working for us, she's working for herself as an egg seller. Since receiving the Buffalo Bicycle, her business has increased by nearly 25%! Read Mercy's story: https://bit.ly/40vq1et

This isn't isolated to Capitol Hill. This has been a recurring fight in Iowa as well, and credit unions continue to abuse their non-profit status while straying further away from the very segment they were created to serve. Look no further than car dealer direct financing options, and you'll find a vast majority are offers from credit unions, hundreds of miles from where you are standing. Next time you see that ad for a CD Special, ask yourself, does that same credit union support your local charities and community events? Community Banks are just that, part of your community. Take inventory of what businesses you see sponsoring little league teams, donating to the local school district, and contributing to the revitalization of main street. Those are the businesses that you should support, not chasing that additional 1/4% on a CD special so some credit union CEO can take a few extra days in Europe next fall.

Why does the wild need wolves? Wolves play a key role in managing a balanced ecosystem. They are responsible for keeping populations of species, such as deer, in check to benefit the planet and many other species. If wolves are removed from the ecosystem, this can cause imbalance and have a devastating ripple-effect throughout the environment. Love wolves? Help us protect these keystone species by becoming a member of the Endangered Wolf Center today. https://lnkd.in/g9psK4a3
