If you know me or have worked with me, you know that I am a huge advocate of skills/strength-based hiring. But what is it? Skills/strength-based hiring is a recruitment approach where candidates are evaluated on their natural behaviours, cognitive abilities, and specific skills, rather than their experience or education. Typically, the hiring process includes skills/strength-based assessments, structured interviews with scenario questions (as opposed to competency-based questions), and work samples. This allows employers to make objective, bias-free hiring decisions. Why is it on the rise? With 76% of employers now adopting skills/strength-based hiring, this approach has grown significantly. Recently, I handled a recruitment process for an important role and noticed some things that got me thinking. One aspect was the 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞. Coordinating with global stakeholders across different time zones was a challenge. I'm curious about how we can use 𝑨𝑰 to improve coordination and offer a more flexible experience for candidates. Most of the process involved discussions 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐬—me and the candidate. Expressing gratitude during these interactions felt great, and it created a positive connection. I wonder how AI could replicate this 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐨𝐮𝐜𝐡 in candidate interactions. It seems like a topic for discussion and improvement within the organization to maintain that human connection. Personally, I can sense the difference between receiving information from a human and from a website. I'm pondering on when in the recruitment process 𝐰𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐈 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐨𝐮𝐜𝐡.
