Recruiter: Are you open for this position? Me: Certainly! Recruiter: Great! So I'm sending you a copy test. You got 24 hours to submit it. Me: Dear, I don't give copy tests since I believe it's not a fair way of evaluating an experienced copywriter, who has had held Senior Copywriter/ Copy Sup/Group Head/Associate Creative Director positions in my 10 years of advertising career So my portfolio is good enough to do the talking! Recruiter: But it's a process we follow before we can take it further. Me: (Silently) throwing the F word. And then a polite NO. Recruiter: Im sorry, then we can't proceed further. Me: Good enough! Best wishes! Moral of the story: Copy tests are a farce. Especially, when you have been grilled by the best in the industry and have a portfolio that speaks volumes on your behalf. Don't fall for this trap Caveat: Not meant for junior writers and interns who want to embrace the craft.

A coincidental writer with a business degree | ex-Chief Content Director & Creative Director @Otangata7
Why did the copywriter apply for a job in the restaurant? They wanted to make sure the HR understood the difference between creating copy and creating coffee – one involves words, and the other just coffee! How hard can it be to understand the difference between a copy and content? Ask my HR Manager if you may and she would say – Le isme kya hai! Tu content “copy” krta hai isliye tu copywriter hai. One that I would later be mocked and laughed at in all corporate meetings. I wonder, how she rose to a CHRO with such narcissistic behavior. Or, Is it true that HRs don’t understand the true nature of the jobs they’re hiring for? Comment if you've faced this kind of CHRO-nic disease in your career. #copycue #dailydose #hrcommunity #CHRO #worklifebalanced

Head of Production - Content Creative | SEO (writing) | Copywriting | Editing | Ebook Formatting | Social Media Content | Email Marketing (Writing)
Hello LinkedIn Fam, It’s been a while since I last posted here. As many of you know, the #contentmarketing industry is struggling through crucial times, with numerous companies having to #layoff writers and reduce their workforce. This has impacted many individuals I’ve worked with, leading them to #unemployment. Many of these professionals are the sole earners in their households, and amid high #inflation, unemployment can have serious effects on #mentalhealth, family stability, and overall #wellbeing. I’m reaching out to the #LinkedIncommunity to support these skilled individuals during this difficult time. If anyone is aware of opportunities or companies #hiringwriters, please consider the following professionals: • Senior #eBookWriter and Editor (7+ years of experience) • Senior #CreativeWriter and #Wikipedia Editor (10+ years of experience) • #eBookTeamLead (3+ years of experience) Your help in connecting them with suitable job opportunities would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your support and for any leads you can provide. (share and comment for better reach. TIA) #ContentMarketing #JobSearch #Hiring #JobOpportunities #ebookWriters #contentwriters #Wikipediaeditors #ContentCreation #WritersCommunity #CareerSupport #EmploymentOpportunities #WriterJobsinKarachi #JobAlert #JobHunt #Recruitment #ProfessionalNetworking #hirecontentwriters #karachicontentwriters

Keeping our signs FRESH 🔥 One of my favourite things to do as a business owner is our branding. Yet for some reason, the clinic is much harder. So for the first time in our 8years of business, we are hiring a copy writer! This time around we have struggled to define our niche, refine our specific values and describe what we do to people at networking events. Like, what does By Design do? We are a Physio clinic that wants to get people moving better, stronger and more aware. But isn’t that what every Physio clinic does? Don’t all Physios care about that stuff. I am learning that they don’t. Or they don’t know how. Or aren’t experienced in those fields. Or they don’t offer the same things as us. So I am very excited to put all of our actions and visions into words this week, and define the By Design brand. I know it’ll take a lot of the fog out of our next stage of business growth 💪🏽🧡 #lifebydesign #smallbusiness #physiotherapy

Writing this post sucks. And writing is what I do. ✍️ I need help getting a job. There ya go. It’s out there in LinkedIn land now. And gosh do I hope that my profile finds the right person. The right person who could get me a job. I’ve got 15 years of experience as a writer on a bazillion different topics and have been a B2B digital marketing copywriter for the past six years. I’ve been obsessively tracking my job search this time. It’s not like I haven’t been here before but this time is different. It feels icky and demoralizing and I am ashamed. I know the job market is garbage. I know there are hundreds of people that are applying for the same jobs I am applying to. They get the same heartless rejection letters. Can you connect me with your friend who is a recruiter? Or keep an eye out for digital copywriter positions at your company? Maybe send me job listings you find? I am open to anything that will get me back into the working world. #hireme #seniorcopywriter #contentwriter #senioreditor #digitalmarketing

BUT I’M YOUR SENIOR!! Ugh, some seniors and their never-ending “Seniority Complex”. Every time you call them out on their weird attitude or conceptual issue, the first thing they would say is, “I’m your senior, don’t try to disrespect me.” Do titles and positions make you a senior? I suppose not. It’s your behavior towards others and the skills that make you a bigger person. Just because you’ve spent more years in a company or industry does not mean you’re entitled to: ⤷ Special treatment ⤷ Deference ⤷ Being always right You don’t deserve any of these if you lack: ⤷ Courtesy and respect ⤷ The basic skills ⤷ Knowledge ⤷ The ability to be generous Do you think companies should do a psychometric test before hiring people for senior positions? 🤔 Whatsay? #linkedin #leadership #seo #seotips #writer #writers #writing #writingcommunity #contentwriter #contentwriter #copywriter #copywriters #marketing #marketer #digitalmarketing #smm #paid #paidads #socialmediamarketing #sales #saleslead #salesexecutive #telesales #ppc #ppcspecialist #senior #manager #lead #supervisor #job #jobs

Yet more cases of being asked for overbearing ‘tasks’ as part of hiring processes. Seems like it’s getting more and more frequent to see content like this… do you agree? Is there a need for some legislation around protecting candidates from being coerced to do free work? - We have job ad compliance legislation to supposedly protect applicants and ‘ensure’ diversity. - We have legislation around internships and unpaid positions. - Unions in certain industries (eg film, tv, theatre) have been set up in direct result of people being asked for free work when it started to drive salaries down and kill the people pipeline for the industry. So Why not have some ground-levelling guard rails around the hiring process too? Would love to hear the flip side argument to this debate too. Why is getting 3rd party references, seeing someone’s work live in the market or a portfolio, doing a short quick (under 1hr) fictitious task to check skills - on top of the rounds of face to face and video interviews - no longer sufficient to make a hiring decision for so many businesses these days?
Would You Work For Free❓ If you ask #copywriters to spend hours on unpaid tasks in a #hiring process, you’re missing out on #talent. I'd happily spend 30 minutes writing you a sales #email to demonstrate my #skills. Yet so many companies are asking me to spend hours on unpaid tasks on the basis that I *might* get a second #interview. I decline. If they don't value my time and trade now, they never will. I’m available after #redundancy as Virgin Media O2’s Senior #Copywriter. Follow me to discover how I’ll turn your target consumers’ eyeballs into clicks and their clicks into #sales 🤑 #management #humanresources #marketing

Have you had experiences—good or bad—with this company or similar roles? It’s time to share and discuss! First off, here’s what we’re seeing in the job market, especially in healthcare content writing: High Expectations: Many companies, like INFUSEmedia, often expect a blend of clinical knowledge and writing skill. This can be intimidating for writers without a healthcare background. 😰 Limited Support: Some job postings hint at a lack of guidance for their content writers, which can lead to frustration.
