“If the world does not invest in environmental sustainability now, soon there will be no need to invest in social or economic responsibility either," says our Eeva Solja. 🌐 Data from the annual COP 28, the United Nations Climate Conference, which took place from 30 November until 12 December is clear: #Nature is crucial across all pillars of the Paris Agreement - a global commitment to pursue efforts that limit the global temperature rise below 1,5 degree Celsius. 🌲 Already the largest #carbonsink, capturing more than 50% of human-caused emissions, nature can help us achieve 30% of the carbon removals by 2030. But if no action is taken, on-going nature degradation will worsen the impact of #climatechange with catastrophic consequences on ecosystems and, therefore, people. That's why Eeva, as owner and Brand and Communications Director at Kiilto, encourages us to consider the environmental impact of every action. In business and in our personal lives. 🧠💭 Why? Because action builds hope for a more just and sustainable future. Read full article in comments 👇 #OurPromisetotheEnvironment

Interesting findings from a recent peer-reviewed paper assessing global household footprints in the context of climate change mitigation! The study investigates the impact of technological advancements on greenhouse gas emissions. Covering 49 countries/regions, with a focus on the EU27, the results indicate that while technological change can significantly reduce emissions by 2030, it falls short of achieving the 1.5°C target. By 2050, no countries are projected to meet the 1.5°C-compatible target, emphasising the need for additional measures. The study underscores the critical role of household lifestyle transformation in effective climate change mitigation, urging further research on diverse pathways aligning with the aspirational 1.5°C target outlined in the Paris Agreement. #ClimateResearch #Sustainability #ClimateAction 🌍🔬 https://lnkd.in/eyneC35W

🪸Climate Action Hero or Zero?🪸 As the urgency of climate action intensifies, corporations across the globe are prioritizing sustainability initiatives and actively seeking ways to reduce their environmental footprint. Industrial operations, motorized vehicles, and human activities contribute to the release of GHG emissions into the atmosphere.👩🏭🚕 The IPCC Special Report on Emissions Scenarios (SRES, 2000) projects an increase in global GHG emissions by 25 to 90% (CO2-eq) between 2000-2030 (IPCC, 2007). As part of global efforts to combat climate change, the Paris Agreement stipulates that each country sets emission reduction targets.🌬️📝 Therefore, a considerable number of companies are competing to assemble GHG emissions inventories. It's like a detailed map of carbon footprints, and pinpointing areas for improvement. But hold on, reporting alone is not enough. Are they the real deal or just a bunch of hot air? Well, wonder no more. Decar Verite Asia is here to help. 🪸✅ Verification and/or validation of GHG emissions are fundamental steps toward showcasing your commitment to openness and accountability in managing your carbon footprint. Through a thorough verification and validation process of your GHG inventory report, we ensure accurate measurement and check the facts in your efforts to fight climate change.🌟 Connect with numerous businesses that trust Decar Verite Asia for their Verification and Validation needs. 🌐www.decar.co.id 📧[email protected] #GHGVerificationandValidation #Sustainability #Transparency

📌 The #BuiltEnvironment accounts for 40% of global energy-related CO2 emissions and is not on track to meet the climate goals of the #ParisAgreement. Urgent attention and collective action are needed. That's why the Concrete Sustainability Council supports the Built Environment Market Transformation Action Agenda launched by WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development at the Buildings and Climate Global Forum in Paris to guide stakeholders towards reaching #netzero by 2050. We call for actors from business, finance, policy and science to collectively advocate for commitment to systemic #decarbonization by pulling on the 3️⃣key transformational levers: ➡ Adopt life-cycle thinking and Whole-Life Carbon Assessment across the full value chain and align key indicators, metrics and targets. ➡ Integrate the carbon cost and reflect it in the price of products and services throughout the value chain, including in procurement and taxonomy. ➡ Transform the supply and demand dynamics to incentivize low-carbon solutions based on the Whole-Life Carbon approach. Why is achieving net-zero so critical? 🌱 Protecting our Planet: Reducing emissions helps limit global warming and prevent severe climate impacts like extreme weather, rising sea levels, and loss of biodiversity. 💪 Ensuring Health: Cleaner air from reduced pollution means healthier lives for all, cutting down respiratory diseases and other health risks. 🔋 Driving Innovation: The shift to net-zero fosters innovation in renewable energy, sustainable practices, and green technologies, creating new jobs and industries. 🌏 Promoting Equity: Climate change disproportionately affects vulnerable communities. Achieving net zero helps protect those most at risk and promotes environmental justice. Take a look at this latest article, co-commissioned by the Grantham Institute - Climate Change and the Environment at Imperial College London and the Grantham Research Institute at LSE: https://imprl.biz/3KZJUn5 "To avoid dangerous levels of climate change we must move away from burning fossil fuels and bring down emissions to net zero as quickly as possible. At the same time, it is essential that we protect our societies by adapting to the warming and impacts that are already locked in because of emissions from the past". #ExecutiveEducation #LCAW2024 #Sustainability #NetZero #ClimateAction #ESG #GreenFuture #EcoFriendly #ClimateJustice

++ Sustainability in Switzerland: Switzerland’s Committment towards the Net Zero Goal 2050++ In August 2019, the Federal Council responded to the special report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) on global warming of 1.5 °C and decided to aim for a greenhouse gas balance (Net Zero Goal) by 2050. This ambitious goal, now legally established through the "Climate and Innovation Act," received support in the popular vote on June 18, 2023, with 59.1% approval. The law sets a target of net-zero emissions by 2050 and requires all companies to achieve net-zero emissions as well by 2050. An additional intermediate goals obliges the federal administration to reach this goal even by 2040. Moreover, the law includes concrete measures such as funding programs of 200 million Swiss francs a year for climate-friendly technologies and heating system renovations. This initiative marks a significant step for Switzerland towards a more sustainable future and highlights the need for comprehensive measures in areas such as buildings, transport and industry to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Do you want to learn how to improve sustainability in your business to reach the Net Zero Goal by 2050? Don’t hesitate to get in touch with @Outlive Advisory for additional information. #Switzerland #Schweiz #NetZero2050 #ClimateChange #ProtectOurEarth #Sustainability
