6 Methods to improve rail usage in New Zealand: - Electrify the entire rail network - Double track major lines, including the North and East coast main trunk - Enhance train speed between major cities, especially Auckland and Hamilton, to compete with vehicles - Increase train frequency to align with people's schedules - Enhance station and train accessibility for seamless connections among all modes - Most importantly: Trust that if you build the infrastructure with resilience in mind people will use it.

Cynicism on the lack of finance, timelines, planning within the report and questions on the overall cost. ‼️🚆‼️ Trains are intelligent agents able to self-organise and determine the best traffic management strategy without the control of any central authority, through a decentralised consensus process. This the core idea of our paper “Towards self-organizing railway traffic management: concept and framework” now available at https://lnkd.in/d-MNTtpx Furthermore: 1. We designed the steps to make such decentralised system deployable on real infrastructures. 2. We provided a preliminary proof of concept by letting trains self-organise on the portion of the French line between Rosny sur Seine and St. Etienne de Rouveray. 3. Our paper has been selected as one of the TOP10 best papers of the RailBalgrade2023 conference. 4.
