🌟 Empowering Energy Independence in Mykolaiv, Ukraine! 🌞 Thrilled to announce another impactful project! Together with NGO Ecoclub and our partners Deye Inverter, we are empowering the Mykolaiv municipality with a solar power plant and storage system.🏢💡 We're unable to disclose all the details due to the facility's location and security reasons. Still below are some key aspects. Olexandr Piskun, our GM in Ukraine, shares, "We chose Mykolaiv due to its proximity to conflict areas, recognizing the urgent need for reliable power sources for critical infrastructure. This project is one of 11 initiatives we're spearheading in Ukraine, affirming our commitment to support municipalities during challenging times." This 5️⃣2️⃣ modules, 2️⃣0️⃣ kW solar power station combined with a 4️⃣0️⃣.8️⃣kWh electricity storage system is helping to contribute to the energy sustainability in Mykolaiv. Beyond covering part of their electricity consumption, it serves as a vital backup during grid disruptions, caused by the ongoing attacks. ⚡ This initiative is part of the NGO Ecoclub Solar Aid for Ukraine project, dedicated to equipping critical infrastructure like hospitals and utilities with backup power solutions. If you'd like to support their fundraising efforts to assist more facilities in Ukraine, please visit the website https://lnkd.in/difnuMzz and learn more about completed projects https://lnkd.in/dZggnHAb 🏥🔋 🌱♻️ #EnergyToPowerYourFuture #SustainablePartnership #EmpoweringCommunities

#Haiti is one of the most impoverished countries on the planet, where only 47% of the population has access to #electricity. But one company is on track to overcome this challenge – EarthSpark International. ⚡ They plan to connect over 120,000 Haitians to reliable renewable-powered grid electricity. Around 5,000 people are benefiting from an affordable supply of #cleanenergy in the rural areas of #LesAnglais and #Tiburon, over half of whom are lowest-income customers. 📈 In addition to their #microgrids, their spin-off, SparkMeter, provides smart metering and grid analytics in over 30 countries. ♀ Their 67% #womenled team uses an award-winning #Feminist Electrification Methodology, ensuring #women are included in every aspect of their work. This approach won the United Nations Momentum for Change award in 2018 for its impact on #climateaction. 💰 PFAN Advisor Jorge Barrigh has been championing EarthSpark since 2019 when they looked for help in securing financing for the project. "It’s a challenging funding environment, so I appreciate the continued engagement of the PFAN team members because they truly care about the project's success", says Allison Archambault, President of EarthSpark International. Anna Häger, Ilmatar's regional manager in Åland, has been accepted into the Future Energy Leaders Finland programme, organised by the World Energy Council Finland. The energy transition is accelerating. Industry and policymakers are setting ambitious targets, and it can be challenging for ordinary people to keep up. Future Energy Leaders is a global platform and growing network of young energy professionals from over 65 countries. The network aims to work together to find the tools organisations and individuals need to understand their role in the energy transition - to humanise energy issues. "The energy transition is the biggest challenge humanity has ever faced. There is so much we don't know about how to do this; therefore, leadership is needed at several levels, especially in the energy sector", says Anna Häger. "I plan to take a very active role in the network, highlighting the pioneering work we at Ilmatar are already doing, such as producing robust reports on the regional economic impacts of our offshore wind projects. I want to ensure Ilmatar remains at the forefront of strategic innovation and sustainable development.” World Energy Council #cleantransition #offshorewind #ilmatarenergy #futureenergyleaders #sustainability

See here the very clear, concise, and inspiring account of Natalia Kholodova about the record of achievement by the NGO Ecoclub in bringing decentralized solar power to Ukraine's communities. Just like the Russian invaders cannot overcome the patriotism, courage and skill of Ukraine's soldiers on the front lines, so too Russian missiles cannot black out the sun behind the front lines, where the Kremlin is trying to destroy the basic necessities of civilian life. Building solar power plants to support critical infrastructure in Ukrainian communities is a key countermeasure against Russia's cowardly long-term genocidal strategy. To Ecoclub and Ukraine: Успіхів!
☀️ Reconstruction in Ukrainian communities has already begun, and they now require financial and technical support to implement renewable energy projects. To facilitate this, a targeted financial instrument with a fast and transparent decision-making process is essential. This need was highlighted by Natalia Kholodova, Project Manager of NGO Ecoclub, during her speech at the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2024 in Berlin. Natalia stated: 📌 Ukrainian communities are eager to implement renewable energy projects, as evidenced by the more than 600 applications Ecoclub has received for the installation of solar power plants. However, they lack the necessary organizational and technical capacity to execute these projects independently. Therefore, a capacity-building component for municipalities should be integrated into all restoration projects. 📌 Loans for sustainable projects should be denominated in hryvnia and adjusted for inflation. 📌 Clear policy support for municipal renewable energy projects at the national level, along with an enabling legal and regulatory framework, should be established. 📌 Most communities require technical support at every stage of project implementation. Since the beginning of 2022, Ecoclub, in collaboration with communities, has installed over 20 solar power plants for critical infrastructure, including hospitals and water utilities. These solar power plants not only provide economic benefits to communities but also help them manage power outages more effectively. In one region under constant enemy shelling, a solar power plant supplied continuous power to a medical facility for three hours, demonstrating the critical role of renewable energy in maintaining vital services during crises. South Asia Forum for Distributed Energy: Empowering Remote Communities with DRE MOSONiE-SEF is proud to share their participation in the South Asia Forum for Distributed Energy, organized by GOGLA and SELCO Foundation on August 24th, 2023. The forum served as a valuable platform to discuss the transformative potential of Distributed Renewable Energy (DRE) in empowering remote communities across South Asia. Margaret shed light on the positive impact DRE has on these regions, enabling access to clean, reliable energy that unlocks opportunities in education, healthcare, and economic development. However, the conversation acknowledged the challenges faced in providing financial services due to geographical constraints. Using the MOSONiE-SEF initiative as an example, they emphasized the critical role of supporting underserved communities and equipping them with the tools they need to achieve energy independence and a brighter future. The South Asia Forum for Distributed Energy fostered a space for innovative ideas and reaffirmed the power of DRE solutions. #SouthAsiaForum #DistributedEnergy #RenewableEnergy #GOGLA #SELCOFoundation #EmpoweringCommunities #EnergyAccess

🚀 Part 1 of the #ProGreenDeal for Smart Cities course has concluded in Ivano-Frankivsk! 25 communities from Western Ukrainian regions, represented by current and future energy advisors, gathered this past week in Ivano-Frankivsk to learn practical skills they can apply directly to drafting their municipal energy plans (MEPs). Communities showcased their cities, presenting how any renewable energy projects are being implemented despite challenges with data and budget constraints. The focus was on improving energy independence, efficiency, and sustainability at the local level. 🔑 Key Takeaways: ● Renewable energy costs are plummeting! ● EU climate goals must be woven into MEPs. ● Community-driven recovery is the key to a resilient energy system. 🙌 A big shoutout to our partner, the Kyiv School of Energy Policy, for their stellar job facilitating this in-person summer school. We're thrilled to collaborate and drive this program forward! Thank you to all the participants and lecturers!
