The real promise of blockchain technology lies in the assets themselves. Consider how assets operate today. Various systems are needed to run vital processes such as pricing an asset, distributing interest and dividends, and communicating with investors. With tokenization, we could incorporate these processes into the asset itself. Given a tokenized asset is capable of executing automated processes on its own, we could eliminate the need for potentially dozens of systems working behind the scenes.

Something that I think has been going under a lot of people's radar: Worldcoin, Sam Altman's privacy-preserving human identity and financial network, aims to give ownership to everyone and uses an open-source protocol. It works by taking a scan of a person's iris and storing this information on a blockchain, allowing users to have prioritized access to apps that may verify they are human. For blockchain to transcend its current boundaries and become as ubiquitous as the elevator, it must be understood and valued not for its underlying technology but for the problems it solves and the opportunities it creates.
