Wonderful spending time with Dr Peter Collins to co-facilitate a session on values-led ethical decision making with some of our senior leaders recently. I learn something new each time I hear Peter speak on the topic of ethics. In my own day to day, I know the choices we make as an organisation not only impact BHP but the communities in which we operate, our partners and broader industry. That’s why the values we hold as a business are so important – they are a declaration of what we stand for, guide our everyday decision making and reinforce our culture. Here's a sign of what forward thinking organisations are doing namely linking values to ethics based decision-making. BHP is being farsighted in linking values and ethics and going into depth about building capability of senior leaders to engage in decision-making. Great to work with #mariajoyce and key leaders at BHP. Leaders face complicated decisions regularly. Ethics is and should be a core part of how leaders deal with those dilemmas.
