Hello LinkedIn Family! Been quite a bit since we posted, but this past weekend was an experience very worth sharing, especially the life and professional lessons we can take away. As a huge and proud Detroit Lions fan, this past Sunday was a heartbreaker. The regular season and playoffs were unbelievable. The heartbreaking loss this past Sunday stung bad at the moment. But, after a couple days to get back home and regroup/refocus, we realize just how close we are and how well the team is built for success in the future. It reminds me a lot of my own professional path and wanted to remind all of us how important it is to keep moving forward. It is completely ok to be upset to lose a big game, client or lose out on a prospect. But we move on. We remember we are built with a great team around us, built for success and in it for the long haul. Having the right support/team around you, combined with passion and being persistent in your big picture goals (even with the losses and bumps in the road), you will reach the top and find the ultimate success you set your eyes on. Detroit went from being the basement of the league to America's new team. As a lifetime fan, we have seen many bumps in the road, but man o man, I cannot wait for next season as I know we are getting one step closer to the main goal! Any loss hurts, but the way we bounce back and go after our goals, is the difference between failing and success. The Man with A Vision Been meaning to post this for a little while! This man right here Hill Ray predicted Ole Miss Football’s future. Before the season, we were talking about what the regular season record would be. Hill predicted 10-2! Even I, who love Ole Miss, was skeptical, but Hill had a vision and even with others doubting and even as the season went along, Hill stuck to his vision. That vision became a reality. Ole Miss Football had a 10-2 regular season and then went on to win its bowl game to go 11-2, the most wins ever! When developing a vision, it’s paramount to be able to literally see the future and put yourself in that future time. What does it look like? How will you feel? Who is with you to enjoy the success? You’d have been hard pressed to find a bigger champion of the state of Georgia than Preston Arkwright. Born in Savannah, the first president of what would become the Georgia Power Company even went so far as to coin the slogan, “It’s great to be a Georgian!,” and purchase ads in newspapers around the country announcing the same. So when the opportunity arose for Arkwright and what was then known as the Georgia Railway and Electric Company to help build a world-class baseball club in his adopted home city of Atlanta, he jumped at it. ⚾ Arkwright and the Georgia Railway and Electric Company purchased a majority stake in the Southern League’s Atlanta Crackers, who despite having been formed nearly 18 years prior, had only been crowned champions three times. The company built a state-of-the-art baseball stadium for the team that opened in May of 1907 to a crowd of over 8,000 people – many of whom had arrived to the game via a brand new Georgia Railway and Electric streetcar line on Ponce De Leon Avenue. Arkwright’s efforts were rewarded with the club’s first 78-win season, and the first of what would become 18 championship seasons in the stadium that would become known to locals as “Old Poncey.” Atlanta would lead the league in attendance more often than not, bringing in a record crowd of over 25,000 on April 10, 1949 for an exhibition game with Jackie Robinson’s Brooklyn Dodgers – the first integrated sporting event in Atlanta’s history. Atlanta’s appetite for baseball would eventually lead to the establishment of the first Major League team in the Southeast, which today contributes a more than $18 million yearly positive impact in Cobb County alone. For many Georgians, there’s nothing better than an evening at the ballpark.
