Getting the right people in the right seat is essential! Especially in the Franchise Investigation Process I am of the opinion that when we go too FAST - the process starts to fall apart. Growth is good. But speed can become the enemy if there hasn't been enough work and intentionality on the front end to build a system that can support the pace. You cannot put a price on a franchise business that has a founder with experience building out their specific model. I’m talking 5-10 years or MORE of solid business growth BEFORE turning the business into a franchise. When I look at franchise models, few things excite me more than hearing about a brand that has a solid founder and leader with years of experience in an industry building their business. In a world where it is hard to tell what is fake and what is REAL, true leadership and business experience in the industry you are awarding franchise opportunities to prospective franchise partners is absolutely priceless. When doing you #franchise investigations, keep your head on a swivel. Be on the lookout for opportunities where the founder had to grind and build just like you will as a franchisee. As a leader, I struggle to empathize and relate with people who are not growing at the same pace I am. One of the biggest sacrifices with personal development is that we often outpace the people around us, especially our loved ones. I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s truly impossible for our people to understand our vision and drive behind why we do what we do. Sometimes, the most we can hope for is the acceptance and acknowledgement of the lack of understanding, along with the choice to love us through it anyway. Our struggle as leaders, resides in our ability to have grace for their position as well. They don’t see our inbox. They don’t have the same conversations with leaders building in the way we are. We carry the burden so they don’t have to. What we need to remember is our loved ones and significant others are ALSO carrying the burden back home allowing us to chase our dreams and provide at a high level. Grace goes both ways. Empathy goes both ways. Don’t get so caught up in your own struggle that you are ignoring another’s. Franchise Development should not be transactional! This is a discover process from both parties. Therefore, more effort and focus needs to be put into building a relationship. When it becomes this thing of moving people through a process, or rushing to the end, we find ourselves in a situation where there is a square peg jammed into a round hole. A franchise partnership is typically a 5-10 year agreement minimum, with most franchisees looking to re-sign and continue the arrangement. Build relationships. This adorable little monster turns 4 today! Time sure does fly when you’re living amongst the chaos that comes from the life of an #entrepreneur and #franchiseowner It’s crazy to think about all the things that have happened in the last four years. We’ve had businesses succeed and we’ve had businesses fail. We’ve laughed, we’ve cried, and we’ve learned so much.
