Unitaid's participation at this year's UNGA underscored our unwavering commitment to improving global health outcomes. Together with our partners and countries, we advanced critical dialogues around women’s and children’s health, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and climate and health. Our focused engagement on these fronts highlighted the power of partnerships in driving change, as we discussed past projects and future collaborations. We addressed the urgency of scaling up innovative health products to tackle the leading causes of death in women and children, while also emphasizing the need for climate-smart health solutions to protect the most vulnerable populations, without losing sight of the fight against HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria. We have now a great potential game changers with Long acting thechnologies such as Lenacapavir to protect girls and women from hiv, we have now demonstrate that we can contribute to eliminate cervical cancer using vaccination and test and treat cervical lesion. these are tremendous progress that all women in the world should have access to, including in Africa and central America and Asia. Our discussions around AMR addressed both the growing threat of resistance and the importance of affordable and accessible diagnostics and treatments. These discussions should also include MDR-TB and antimalarial medecine and vector control resistance. It is exciting that The Global Fund has commended the Truenat and handheld X-Ray devices as India's innovative advancements towards tuberculosis elimination. Union Health Secretary Apurva Chandra, along with the Indian delegation, showcased the groundbreaking Truenat technology, which has significantly improved TB detection and management. Truenat, a RT-PCR-based test, is both cost-effective and efficient, and has shifted paradigms particularly in resource-limited settings. It had been a game changer in the fight against COVID-19 and is now revolutionizing TB diagnostics. The Global Fund praised these technologies as models for global adoption, highlighting India's commitment to eliminating TB through extensive awareness campaigns, stigma reduction, and intensive program monitoring using digital technologies. Great News: The Global Fund launches US$771 million in grants to Mozambique, focusing on strengthening health systems to: ✅ Increase antiretroviral therapy coverage among all people living with HIV to 81% by 2025. ✅ Improve the treatment success rate of drug and/or multidrug-resistant TB to 90% in 2026. ✅ Provide universal access to quality malaria diagnosis and treatment. Mozambique was also awarded US$18.8 million in catalytic funding to strengthen its health programs to support adolescent girls and young women, distribute pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), increase TB case finding, build resilient and sustainable systems for health and bolster its work on human rights and gender. https://lnkd.in/epzhn5gF

Alliance for Public Health: Ukrainian innovations attracted attention on the international stage One stand in the Global Village hall at the venue in Munich was particularly well attended: Ukrainian activists presented their app, which social workers use to reach at-risk groups virtually under the difficult circumstances of the russian war of aggression. It enables counselling or shows the way to frequently mobile laboratory or testing stations. NGOs and organisations have shown enormous interest in using this app in other countries, for example in African conflict zones or along migration routes, reports Andriy Klepikov, co-founder and executive director of the Ukrainian NGO Alliance for Public Health, which is dedicated to the fight against HIV/Aids in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Ukraine is a hub for innovation, emphasised Klepikov, one of three co-chairs of the conference AIDS2024. Thanks to digital and mobile solutions, control over the HIV epidemic has not been lost. Every year around 10 million people in poorer countries die of illnesses that can be very cheaply prevented or managed, including malaria, HIV, tuberculosis, and diarrhea. Lots of resources are required to fight these issues on a global scale, which is why WHI aims to understand: How much is spent by low-income countries on population healthcare?   Only a few hundred dollars per capita are spent annually on the healthcare of people living in low-income countries (adjusted for purchasing power). On the other end, the U.S. spends thousands per capita on healthcare, a statistic made all the more ludicrous when compared to the disturbingly low numbers in low-income countries, and even worse when considering the fact that the U.S. has the third highest population in the world. Although we cannot raise the capital to match the U.S., we can at least raise the quality of healthcare and life enough in low-income countries that the aforementioned illnesses that could be cheaply prevented or managed become less frequent killers to citizens.
