I took my first trip out of the country.
Not that long ago, along with some of my NBA peers, I headed to the Training Center Higueron, called “The Embassy,” in Fuengirola, Spain — a brand-new state-of-the-art facility that overlooks the Mediterranean Sea. As a member of the G League Ignite, I spent a transformative week working with some of the game’s best, while also getting the chance to explore a new place.
I knew, then, that I wanted to find a way for others to have that same special experience.
We launched Scoot Henderson Elite (S.H.E.) in 2023 to offer student-athletes the chance to pave their own path towards playing college ball, while also fostering deep relationships and memorable experiences.
Later this month marks a significant milestone for S.H.E. as we mirror that journey I took, when we take the squad on the road from Marietta…to Spain!
The players will stay in Andalucia and train at The Embassy, just like I did. They’ll also participate in international games, and we plan to attend a few pro games, too.
Plus, we’re going to make the most of the time off the court by exploring Andalucia to learn more about the rich culture and history of the region.
S.H.E. is a dream powered by the passion and experiences of my sisters — Diamond, China, Onyx, and Crystal (Moochie) — who all play/played college hoops, all molded my own basketball journey, and now all help steer our team. Their leadership and vision is embedded in the core of our program.
I’m filled with hope that this trip will ignite a similar fire in the hearts of our S.H.E. players, inspiring them to see what’s possible and continue to reach for their dreams, both on and off the court.
