Last Night we celebrated the launch of Barbie®: The Exhibition at the the Design Museum. The event was a spectacular celebration of Barbie’s 65-year design journey of innovation, with a vibrant crowd experiencing over 180 remarkable dolls, including a rare first edition Barbie from 1959. The exhibition which will run until February 2025, highlights Barbie’s significant influence on design, fashion, culture and will present exclusive, behind-the-scenes insights into Mattel’s design processes. This week, in celebration of Pride Month, we invited our colleagues across Mattel EMEA to join us for a special OPEN EMEA Lunch & Learn session featuring the Papaperscelta family! This Italian family, renowned for their activism and storytelling through social media, novels, and podcasts, shared their experiences as an LGBTQ+ family. Barbie inspires the limitless potential in girls, which is why at the beginning of this year we partnered with The Prince's Trust through the #ChangeAGirlsLife campaign. Together with Barbie and George at Asda, we developed a unique opportunity for young people to design a Barbie fashion collection inspired by the theme "inspiring stories, shaping the future at the heart". The collection, created by talented young individuals supported by The Prince’s Trust, was a great success, raising £200,000 to support young women. This partnership exemplifies the power of storytelling and fashion to drive positive change.
