Our AMF has been busy working with 12 x large fixed lights for a fabrication contract this month. Once cut to the correct lengths, the profiles continue their journey on our state-of-the-art Schüco International KG CNC machine to create drainage holes. Then, the longer profiles are reinforced using a 3mm flat plate which is fixed in place with industry strength adhesive and left to cure. The next step is to assemble one of the smaller fixed lights on a workbench. The framework is gathered, laid in formation and silicone is piped along the edges before the unit is fitted together. The framework is pinned in place, reinforced with adhesive and then the corner cleats are inserted to hold the structure securely. Once the frames are delivered to site, they will be stacked to form a large glazing unit which stretches nearly 5 meters in height. When painting parts with complex shapes, like a transformer's heat exchanger, it can sometimes be challenging to reach certain surfaces while maintaining a uniform paint thickness across the entire part. One solution could be to use spray gun extensions. These extensions allow an operator to more easily access hard-to-reach areas and simplify their work. Machine polishing is a stage in the detailing process, but what does it actually do? You may think that paint on a car is flat, but over time it will pick up scratches and swirl marks. Imagine a napkin not lying flat, it has small peaks & troughs and undulates that's paintwork, now pull the napkin flat, that's what machine polishing does. We use pads and compounds with different cutting properties to soften and flat the ridges, creating a smooth, gloss like surface. To do a single stage polish on a standard size car, will take a day. If the paint condition requires further correction, it may need a 2 or 3 stage polish. Using the Logic Trace System Jumbo consisting of two boards, the floor pattern could quickly and accurately be traced so the flooring could be cut using a cnc machine. The two board Jumbo has an active area of 5' x 8' or 1.5m x 2.4m, perfect for large templates and patterns.
