A Journey of Continuous Learning As my internship concluded, one of my mentors Disal Haputhanthrie offered guidance: "Maintain a balance of work and life, for this is just one of many exciting stops along your engineering journey." His words ring true as I reflect on all that I've learned. Over the past months, I've undertaken a variety of fascinating projects. I've designed and fabricated vehicle bodies, analyzed complex mechanical systems through reverse engineering, conducted battery tests, and modified battery modules and cooling systems. Each experience helped strengthen my technical skills and understanding of real-world challenges. Endless thanks go to mentors Chanaka Rathnayake Rangana Vidumal pushpamal karunarathna Disal Haputhanthrie Prasitha Sathsara Madura Herath Indunil Dhanushka for steering me expertly through challenges with patience and support. When I hit the occasional roadblock, their encouragement pushed me to learn from mistakes and give the next problem an even stronger try. It's because of them that I now truly see how many undiscovered areas remain in this creative field. My time at Vega Innovations revealed engineering's depths hold way more than initially met the eye. What once seemed shallow is a vast, intricate domain left to explore. I feel fortunate for the knowledge and confidence gained to do just that. As one chapter closes, I feel energized to start the next. My favorite part of my internship with the 309th Software Engineering Group was leaning about the interconnective aspect of engineering. I learned that engineering isn't the process of finding solutions to problems alone; instead, its about collaborating as a group and drawing from the diverse backgrounds and experiences to solve a common problem. I realized how much engineers learn and adapt when working together. I have had a positive change in mind set when it comes to working as a group. I have also gained an appreciation of the importance of learning from and communicating with others, two skills that are invaluable as I go throughout my educational career.

🚀 I have completed my degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering. Throughout my academic career, I maintained a CGPA of 8.92 which often led to the assumption that theoretical know-how directly translates into practical prowess. The Fall 2023 quarter at the University of Washington was a period of profound exposure in many aspects. The curriculum was challenging and rewarding, emphasizing practical application and theoretical understanding. The Self-Driving Cars: An Intro to AI for Mobile Robots course, taught by Dr. Markus Grotz, provided a comprehensive overview of the principles and technologies underpinning autonomous robotic systems. The course’s hands-on approach and rigorous theoretical grounding offered a unique perspective on this rapidly evolving field. Our experience with the muSHR (https://mushr.io/) bot, on which we got to deploy our scripts, was precious. Kudos to the rest of the teaching team (Sanjar Normuradov, Paresh Chaudhary, and Jack Lowry), whose support in making us clear on the concepts was also instrumental. The Analytical Methods for Electrical Engineers course, led by Dr. Tamara Bonaci, seamlessly integrated mathematical theory with Python programming. This approach facilitated a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts and their practical applications. The Engineering Entrepreneurial Systems and Design course, instructed by Dr. Payman Arabshahi, offered an in-depth exploration of systems engineering principles. The course’s emphasis on real-world applications and problem-solving strategies was particularly beneficial. The Internship Readiness Seminar series, guided by Dr. John Nettles, provided invaluable insights into the professional world. The course’s focus on practical skills, such as resume writing and interview techniques, was instrumental in preparing for future internships. In conclusion, the Fall 2023 quarter at the University of Washington was a period of academic achievement and personal growth. I want to express my deepest gratitude to the Professors, seniors, and peers for their invaluable guidance and support throughout this journey. I look forward to building upon the knowledge and skills acquired during this quarter in my future academic and professional endeavors.
