💡 TIP TUESDAY 💡 Foster open communication! Children like to be involved in the decision making in the family. It makes them feel like their thoughts and feeling are valued and important. When a move or deployment is coming up that you are aware of, have a conversation with your child(ren). Ask them about the feelings that they have and most importantly, GIVE THEM SPACE if they do not want to talk about it. How do you foster open communication with your children and include them as part of the military life? #graceofamilitarychildandlife #tiptuesday #tips #tip #militarytip #militaryfamily #militarychildren #military

🌍✨ Celebrating the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers! Since 1948, over 2 million peacekeepers have served in 71 missions, guiding nations from war to peace. Today, 76,000+ peacekeepers from 120+ countries are deployed in 11 operations, fostering global peace and stability. Australia first joined in 1947, sending military observers to Indonesia. Over 75 years, tens of thousands of Australian military and civilian peacekeepers have served in more than 60 operations across 30+ countries, playing crucial roles in conflict prevention and recovery. 🕊️ Despite challenges, peacekeepers remain steadfast, safeguarding civilians and promoting peace. Every May 29th, we honour their bravery and remember those who sacrificed their lives for peace. 🌟 This year's theme, "Fit for the Future: Building Better Together," highlights 75 years of vital peacekeeping work and calls for collaboration to tackle evolving challenges. Let's raise awareness and support the incredible work of UN Peacekeepers worldwide. #InternationalPeacekeepersDay2024 #IPKD2024 #Veterans #Defence #ADF #Military #VeteransFamiles

It's important to remember the difference between #MemorialDay, #VeteransDay, and #ArmedForcesDay. Remembering the difference makes our military community feel understood and helps civilians be mindful of sensitive days. #AcusFoundation #MemorialDay

Practical strategic policy development, security capacity building and professional development training.
https://lnkd.in/gMJfJERS This is the abstract The boredom of soldiers on peacekeeping missions cannot be reduced to the absence of combat. Boredom occurs when soldiers cannot find any activity which engages them. The activities they desire to perform, but cannot, are performances of their desired selves. Based on ethnographic fieldwork with Aotearoa New Zealand soldiers deployed to the Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands, this article argues that the self that cannot be performed is not always the warrior self, defined by combat experience. New Zealand peacekeepers’ boredom was caused not so much by lack of combat as by lack of opportunity to practice a neoliberal desire to work on and transform themselves. This was a form of ‘neoliberal boredom’: restlessness caused by desire with no fixed or specific object, as no one activity can continually provide new and transformative experiences. This case study demonstrates that we should be wary of reducing soldier boredom to single, or solely military, causes.

A life experience and people I'll never forget. I'd do it all over again knowing what I know would happen because of who it made me today... #SITREPFoundation #SITREP #Military #Veterans #FirstResponders #nonprofit #Foundation #helping #ThankYou #Honor #OperationEnduringFreedom #OEF #HonorTheFallen #NeverForget #OEFAnniversary #OperationEnduringFreedomAnniversary
Today Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) began on October 7, 2001, in response to the September 11 attacks. The primary goals were to dismantle al-Qaeda and remove the Taliban from power in Afghanistan. The operation marked the beginning of the U.S.-led coalition's efforts to combat terrorism and bring stability to the region. The campaign officially ended on December 28, 2014, although coalition forces remained to assist with training Afghan security forces. The anniversary of OEF is a time to honor the bravery and sacrifices of the military personnel who served during the campaign and to reflect on the impact of their efforts in the fight against terrorism. We honor the many brave men and women who served and sacrificed their lives and so much during Operation Enduring Freedom. Their courage, dedication, and ultimate sacrifices will never be forgotten. As we reflect on their commitment, let us remember the importance of peace and unity in a world that owes so much to these heroes. 🇺🇸 #SITREPFoundation #SITREP #Military #Veterans #FirstResponders #nonprofit #Foundation #helping #ThankYou #Honor #OperationEnduringFreedom #OEF #HonorTheFallen #NeverForget #OEFAnniversary #OperationEnduringFreedomAnniversary
