Our Vice President of Real Estate Ben Murphy was on hand last week as Senator Ed Markey and other leaders celebrated federal and state funding for the Strathmore Mill cleanup. We’ve helped develop a master plan and advance design for the overall Turners Falls Canal District—great to see more momentum for Montague!

Turtle Creek | This is a story about the long-term, piece-by-piece restoration of Turtle Creek in north-central Pennsylvania. It’s also a story about the power of partnerships, innovation, the environmental stewardship of landowners, and the resiliency of natural systems. It’s a success story suggesting broader opportunities for Pennsylvania’s waters, and for the Chesapeake Bay. https://lnkd.in/ety4KVFi

Continued investment in healthy forest and fire fuel projects is essential. Next challenge: biomass utilization.
Good news for California! The @usda-forest-service is investing nearly $179 million for priority landscapes across the state to confront the wildfire crisis as part of a $500 million national investment. … “These and other federal investments are vital to match the Governor’s $2.8 billion investment over the last several years. They will also strengthen our partnership with the Forest Service, California’s largest landowner, in taking an ‘all-lands’ approach to improve the health of our forests and the safety of our communities,” said California Wildfire and Forest Resilience Task Force Director, Patrick Wright. … Learn more and see how California’s funding is broken down into regional projects. >> https://lnkd.in/gxEMRW4Z … Office of the Governor - California … #WildfireTaskForce #TaskForceProgress #Wildfire #ForestService

🌲In the coming years, federal money from the REPLANT Act is expected to support 1.2 billion trees over the next decade - enough to cover 4.1 million acres - but it needs the help of private companies that can resuscitate the reforestation industry. That's where our portfolio company Mast Reforestation comes in. Read about how the tree supply chain affects land owners in the wake of fierce wildfires, and how Mast is aiming to help: https://lnkd.in/dFWYEV6J

RES is proud to be an inaugural member of the new partnership announced by the White House yesterday to conserve and restore our country’s rivers, lakes, streams, and wetlands. Sam Burley represented RES at the Water Summit, where this initiative was announced, and was impressed by the specific numerical goals – protecting, restoring, or reconnecting 8 million acres of freshwater wetlands and 100,000 miles of rivers and streams. Another point of pride for us: The event included an updated version of a short film, Restoring Balance, created by Swiftwater Films Inc. and RES. It’s an example of states, NGOs, and Tribes working together to remove dams and restore the river – in this case, the Klamath River in California and Oregon – improving critical salmon habitat and water quality as well as restoring the culture of Tribes dependent on the salmon. RES is spearheading the restoration following the breach of the dams in January. Restoring resiliency at a scale that matters, keeping nature in balance with our human footprint, is what RES and our industry is all about. Using my passion for film as a driving force for change. To make companies, organisations, and people feel good about who they truly are and deliver it sympathetically
It is so simple....🌳🌿 No matter how many times it has been said getting outside, in nature, is just so beneficial. For nearly 2 years, I've volunteered with the Bournemouth National Trust Volunteers and every moment outdoors reaffirms the incredible impact of nature. 🌟 This Sunday, I joined a fantastic team of 15 at Brownsea Island, partnering with a National Trust park ranger to support their Countryside Stewardship scheme. 🏞️ Our tasks include trimming invasive rhododendrons and selectively thinning trees (not chopping them down!) to allow more light for heather growth. Heather, a vital habitat rarer than rainforests, holds immense importance for Brownsea's ecosystem. If not managed properly, it could succumb to tree species like Scots pine and birch. 🌲 Moreover, heathlands play a crucial role in carbon storage, boasting some of the highest levels per unit area among habitats. Protecting these areas is not only vital for biodiversity but also critical for maintaining carbon stocks. 🌍 Below is a short film I have created highlighting the beauty of the island and the work we carry out. Enjoy. Ps. By the way, I'm currently seeking opportunities to produce more video content for organizations involved in nature conservation. Equipped with the necessary tools and expertise, I'm eager to collaborate on projects that raise awareness for important causes. Feel free to reach out and connect if you have an engaging project in mind! 🎥 #NatureConservation #Volunteering #BrownseaIsland #Biodiversity #CarbonStorage #nationaltrust #conservation #greenplanet https://lnkd.in/de2CTDkB

Today, we are anouncing a land exchange proposal that protects Travis Air Force Base, creates a 15,000-acre contiguous preserve on the Jepson Prairie, and funds completion of the Solano County Habitat Conservation Plan. When we announced our project, we stated two principles about what to protect: (1) Protect and support Travis Air Force Base, and (2) Protect Solano’s open space and prime agricultural lands. This land exchange proposal is the first step towards achieving both goals. We hope that this exchange shows the first of many ways that California Forever and local stakeholders can work together to build a brighter future for Solano County. https://lnkd.in/gYmVSjTN

Engineered Wetlands! Normally I am a bit down on what's going down in Florida, but not this time. Really tremendous work going on in repairing, improving, augmenting, preserving the everglades. Fantastic. There is a bit of a theme emerging in some of my posts, I call it 'Terraforming Terra'. Accepting that we as humans ARE directly wrecking the ecosystem, and further that it is within our power to repair, improve and sustain it instead. Please join me in recognizing that we ALL need to evolve our thinking, our interactions with nature, our societies, and our business practices to make room for future generations of all forms of life. Future life does not consume today, does not speak today, and does not invest today, however, future generations are the ULTIMATE stakeholders. Sustain the future, we must. And, no, those who die with the most toys do not win, they just doom all of us with their childish antics.
