A huge part of my job & Massachusetts Biomedical Initiatives (MBI)'s mission is centered around growing the region's #lifesciences industry through #advocacy and #workforcedevelopment. After working with countless partners, we have developed a Regional Biomanufacturing Strategy that outlines the steps we need to take to continue that growth. The success of the life sciences in Central MA directly impacts the success of our region. While it is less than an hour away, #Boston alone cannot contain the industry's exponential growth. Central MA has the space, workforce #talent, and other resources vital to growing companies of all sizes (plus it is WAY more cost effective to life and operate a business here). Please take a second to read through our strategy and see what my team at MBI envisions for the future of #CentralMA... we are on our way to do some really great things for our region! #BiomanufacturingCentralMA #CentralMABioCluster

A fascinating and experience-driven article highlighting the significant impact of policy on becoming a leading state in biotech. It underscores the importance of carrying good policy forward. Truly insightful! Keep it up Livio Valenti!
Catherine Carlock' Boston Globe Media article, "A looming threat to Greater Boston’s biotech dominance, 700 miles away" is a fascinating read for anyone who's involved in Massachusetts' biomanufacturing industry: https://lnkd.in/enpywdt6. The article made me think that I could have gone further in my recent op ed for MassBio about the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center's funding programs for startups— https://lnkd.in/eTqwswe3 If Massachusetts doesn't do more at a policy level to encourage continued biomanufacturing development in the Bay State, it will almost certainly lose its leadership position in the years to come.

Thrilled to share my recent op-ed in Bio Futures magazine... In this piece, I delve into the real estate challenges and solutions for Indiana’s life sciences sector. Here are three key takeaways: - Real Estate Investment Landscape: Indiana faces a scarcity of third-party investors compared to major life sciences hubs. While these hubs boast 55% ownership by private developers and REITs, our local market struggles to attract similar capital. My op-ed explores strategies to bridge this gap and foster investment growth. - Startup Support: Early-stage biotech startups are the lifeblood of innovation. However, they often lack access to essential resources. Co-working labs can play a pivotal role in nurturing these startups, providing collaborative spaces where breakthroughs happen. Let’s champion co-working lab initiatives to empower our local entrepreneurs. - Infrastructure Funding: Leveraging Tax Increment Financing (TIF) districts presents an exciting opportunity. By directing TIF funds toward life sciences infrastructure, we can enhance research facilities, attract talent, and elevate Indiana’s prominence in the industry. Read my full op-ed here: https://lnkd.in/gcxgPRQF Let’s continue driving innovation and growth in Indiana’s life sciences sector. #LifeSciences #Indiana #Innovation Jon R. The Boston Biotech Hub and North Carolina Research Triangle Park, economics and infrastructure compared. Lower cost of living, ease of building infrastructure, and state incentive investment in biotech, all contribute to the dominance of RTP as a manufacturing hub for biopharma. It is good to have alternative locations for biotech success. Boston Globe - " Maintaining Massachusetts’ competitive edge is top of mind these days for political and business leaders alike. And, to be clear, few places on the planet compare to Greater Boston’s drugmaking expertise. But the life science industry isn’t just about researchers with PhDs. New drugs have to be physically produced somewhere, too. And while biotech has become the crown jewel of Greater Boston’s economy, other parts of the country are eager to pluck a few of those gems for themselves. I want to see this happen, but the fact is, I'm old enough to say I've seen plenty of positive growth occurring in the Worcester region for biotech and MBI has played a significant role in driving innovation to the city so for that reason I'd like to thank you for everything you've done to make the city more welcoming to innovators and entrepreneurs in the health sciences. I can't wait to see what more is on the horizon!
