There is another inevitable intersection of AI and health care – the use of proprietary and Part 11 compliant real-world evidence datasets to train condition- and protocol-specific AI models. Especially in healthcare, avoiding “hallucinations” and the ability to audit data sources source behind an AI output are critical.

John Toussaint shared the post below with the caption "Process before technology is still relevant even with the advent of generative AI". In today's digital landscape, consider the implications of focusing solely on processes prior to technology. Today, people, process, and technology form an integrated system. Is designing any of those components in isolation, in fact, designing in waste and increases time by having to double back to integrate technology? Historically, when we have encouraged process before tech, it was about a technology that needed to be created, designed or optimized for a specific use. There are a lot of use cases for generative AI to be used in process, as is, as an operator. While generative AI is a transformative tool, we must understand that it's not just about implementing the latest tech. It’s about how technology can enhance our processes, empower our people, and fit within our cultural framework. This requires a holistic approach, but we must be mindful of the complexity and potential resistance to change. I also recognize that integrating these elements seamlessly can be complex and challenging, particularly for larger organizations or those with limited resources. In some cases, focusing on improving processes first can prepare an organization for more comprehensive integration later. Smaller organizations or those with stringent regulatory requirements might need to take a phased approach, addressing one component at a time to build capacity and ensure compliance. The traditional "process before technology" mindset has its place, providing a manageable pathway for incremental improvement. However, as we move forward, we should aim to design systems where people, processes, technology, and culture work together seamlessly from the start. This integrated approach can help us not only catch up with innovation but lead it. Let’s embrace a future where these elements are intertwined, adapting our strategies to the specific needs and readiness of each organization. By doing so, we can create more efficient, adaptive, and forward-thinking organizations. #Innovation #AI #FutureOfWork #SystemsThinking #Leadership
