It's always a privilege to represent Team Massachusetts to local, national, and global audiences. It was a spectacular #BIO204 for the MLSC team. Special thanks to MassBio and our partners in industry and government for helping demonstrate why our Commonwealth is the global life sciences hub. The countdown is on for #BIO2025 back in Boston. 🚀 Are you ready for DAY 2!? Day 1 at the iGEM 2023 Grand Jamboree was a blast! 🌟 In our final day 1 panel discussion, "A Glimpse into the Next Century of SynBio Evolution," our panelists Nicolas Krink, Mona Oliveira, PhD, Ellen Jorgensen, and John Cumbers delved into essential topics. One key point was the need to educate the general public about SynBio and why scientists should engage in politics. John Cumbers emphasized, “Young people should see politics as an avenue to grow a sustainable #bioeconomy”. By participating in politics, the next generation of #SynBio leaders can influence research funding allocation and drive scientific breakthroughs. Our panel also addressed the disparities in research funding between high and low-income countries and stressed the importance of rectifying these inequalities. As Ellen Jorgensen said, “There are so many people with great ideas but they don't have the infrastructure! We have to level these discrepancies so that we can scale up ideas and products.” 💡 The takeaway message made the audience reflect on the future of BioTech: Fast forward 15 years, and the world of SynBio will have transformed our current imaginations into reality. Imagine a future where it seamlessly integrates into our daily lives, much like our phones, quietly enhancing our world! 🌟🔬 #iGEM2023 #WorldExpoSynBio #20thYearofiGEM

This week Chris Brown and Erin Clark attended #BIO24, the globe’s largest gathering of biotech leaders, to share QIC's vision for the Boggo Road Innovation Precinct (BRIP) in Brisbane's inner-south with 18,000 fellow delegates. As master developer of BRIP, the Biotechnology Innovation Organization convention in San Diego proved a powerful opportunity for QIC to connect with international counterparts engaged in building the future of biotech, innovation hubs and life science ecosystems. Key learnings from the event included: • Attracting the brightest minds depends on creating amenity-rich places. • A one-team approach will help deliver a cohesive innovation hub for the city. • Creating successful clusters requires government support and alignment. • People and facilities must be central to the development priorities. • Articulating the mission of the precinct is critical to its competitiveness. Our team was proud to represent Queensland alongside precinct partners and stakeholders including Translational Research Institute Australia, Vaxxas, Sanofi, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Griffith University, The University of Queensland, UniQuest, QUT (Queensland University of Technology), ARM Hub (Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing), QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute, University of the Sunshine Coast, Illumina, Cytiva, Novartis, Southern RNA 🧬, and Ed Husic MP. Thanks to Trade and Investment Queensland, Brisbane Economic Development Agency, MTPConnect, Department of State Development and Infrastructure, AusBiotech and Life Sciences Queensland Ltd (LSQ) for ensuring the success of the delegation and thereby strengthening the unified precinct development strategy that underpins BRIP. 2023 was a challenging year for most in the #lifesciences sector. However, the sentiment for 2024 is showing more signs of growth. This is great news for those in the sector, especially with VC's in fundraising mode and ready to deploy capital strategically. More on this in CBRE's YE 2023 NYC Life Science Report. #growth #investment #lifesciencesindustry #cre #commercialrealestate #biotech #biotechnology #lifesciences #biotechnologyindustry

Under the motto "Seed and Succeed 🌱," BIOTECH AUSTRIA invited to its 3rd Biotech Circle Austria at the Wiener Boerse this morning. Norbert Bischofberger delivered an inspiring talk, addressing the disparities between the biotech funding landscape in the US and Europe, followed by a lively panel discussion, with some thought-provoking questions. 𝘋𝘰 𝘸𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘸 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘴 𝘴𝘶𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘭 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘶𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘦𝘥? 𝘐𝘴 𝘴𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘈𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘢 𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘺 "𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥" 𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯 "𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵"? I believe that we have fantastic scientific achievements 🔬 and success stories in Austria, yet perhaps we sometimes lack the confidence(?) to effectively communicate them to a wider audience. Let’s dare to be a little bit bolder, think bigger, and also embrace failures without fear. We can only truly convince others of Austria being a great place for biotech when we are convinced ourselves! Thank you, BIOTECH AUSTRIA for organizing such a great event! #BCA2024 #BiotechAustria #Science
