An events-filled weekend. Better Cities Film Festival in #Detroit, and Open Streets in #Windsor. #Events can transform streets and public space, reframing the the experience of being in a place. They can give us a higher appreciation of the #urbanism. They do, though, need to be supplemental to the everyday experience. I am immensely proud of the immersive 3D model the team has built of Abergavenny’s Market and Town Hall! This model goes beyond just a virtual tour—it’s a powerful tool that provides full accessibility to help every member of our community navigate the property with ease. Whether you're visiting for the first time or returning, this model showcases all the building's facilities, making it easier for everyone to explore and feel confident. This is a major step toward making Abergavenny more inclusive and accessible for all. Having a passionate Town Clerk (Sandra Rosser) and Mayor who truly understand the importance of inclusion and accessibility has been an incredibly refreshing experience. Rather than questioning why these changes are necessary, their approach has been one of asking how we can make it happen. Their commitment to ensuring that Abergavenny is accessible to everyone has fuelled this project from the start, and their vision aligns perfectly with our mission. It’s rare to find leadership that instinctively prioritises breaking down barriers and working with them has made all the difference in bringing our immersive model to life. Together with the immersive models of Revue Clothing and The Kings Arms Hotel (Jon Child), this marks the start of creating a fully immersive Abergavenny over the next 12 months. A 3D model of key retail areas, featuring links to individual business models, will serve as a standout marketing and accessibility tool, designed to boost footfall throughout the market town. A personal project I had wanted to realise for sometime, a 3D take on Judge Dredd's Mega City One, the goal was mega scale and mega complexity. I achieved this with Houdini's great PDG(Procedural Dependency Graph) mostly 3 discrete HDA's(Houdini Digital Asset) stacked into Blocks and using the good old 'copy to points' node with random values to rotate them, propagating over a very simple base mesh, all assembled in Unreal 5, the whole thing only possible because of the wonders of Nanite, veichles very simply animated on splines and camera done through the UE sequencer, music is by David Holmes. https://lnkd.in/exuXZM5b

The team and I were privileged to be at a Practice Talk Populous held in their Sydney office. I was impressed to learn that they designed the largest spherical building in the world.
