“A much needed dose of inspiration” - An attendee summed up our first Inspired Leadership event perfectly! Here’s some highlights from our session today spotlighting leaders from the NT: ⭐ Dr Sarah Goddard took a break from her rounds at the Tennant Creek Hospital to receive her NT Award for Excellence in Women’s Leadership. Dr Goddard recounted how she was humbled upon receiving the award and will hold it close to her heart. She had this advice: “If someone says you can’t do something, pick yourself up and try again.” ⭐ Our Panel highlighted the importance of allyship in various communities that they represent and the power of listening, providing authentic, considered support. Here’s some key insights from our panel: 💡 “A part of the role as an ally is to take the load off. Make change through listening and don’t be afraid to make mistakes,” said Ben Graetz. 💡 On how to be a better ally Tahlia Biggs responded: “Think about what you can provide to that person that means they can be their authentic selves.” 💡 Allyship: “It’s just about being a really good human” – Ingrid Stonhill 💡 “Everything we do at Clubhouse Territory is about making people feel included.” Says Deb Jones We can’t wait for our next Inspired Leadership Event in June highlighting Tasmanian leaders. #WLA #inspiredleadershipseries #Leadership #Allyship

I was so fortunate to recieve the Schmidmaier/ Mayne Scholarship from Chief Executive Women (CEW) to take part in this Leadership Program. Unsurprisingly, so much of the value came from connecting with the other women on the course and from the deeply generous, honest and practical insights and tips of the many CEW members who were guest speakers. A few quick lessons that have already had a demonstrable impact for me: 💡 Don’t add worry on top of leadership anxiety. As you get more senior, anxiety will be a natural response to the kind of challenge and ambiguity you face. Understand that some anxiety (to a degree) is normal, and don’t tell yourself it’s a sign you’re not equipped or qualified. (Ping Kate Howitt) 📣 64.6% of executive women surveyed by Marianne Perkovic, BEc, MBA, GAICD for her book “Pivotal Career Moments” had experienced peri menopausal or menopausal symptoms, with 24.6% stating “the symptoms had a significant impact on their ability to function optimally in the role” and 52.8% of men and women surveyed identified as “not being comfortable in discussing the symptoms in a work environment”. Given these stages can span decades of a woman’s life, often at the time they’re at an executive level, wanting women to stay and succeed requires us all to dismantle the stigma attached to these phases and ensure “it is not a barrier to success”. 🚀 My top 5 Gallup CliftonStrengths span all four domains for a high performance team (executing, influencing, relationship building and strategic thinking), which is somewhat unusual. As a bit of of Jack of all trades, master of none, I was rather pleased to reflect on and appreciate how this allows me to contribute to my team through a diverse range of attributes; rather than focussing on a lack of deep technical proficiency in any one area.
