It's a global reminder of the incredible power of vaccines to protect individuals, families, and entire communities from preventable diseases. Vaccines work by training your body to recognize and fight off germs before they can make you sick. This not only safeguards you, but also helps create a "herd immunity" effect, making it harder for diseases to spread. This World Immunization Week, let's recommit to staying up-to-date on vaccinations for ourselves and our loved ones. It's a simple yet powerful act that ensures a healthier future for all. Immunization, also known as vaccination, is a process whereby a person is made immune or resistant to an infectious disease, typically by administering a vaccine. An estimated 4 million deaths worldwide are prevented by #childhood vaccinations annually. Measles vaccination alone is projected to save nearly 19 million lives by 2030. Despite its success, immunization coverage has declined in recent years. In 2021, only 81% of infants received basic vaccinations globally, the lowest rate in over a decade. Millions of children, particularly in low- and middle-income countries, still lack access to essential vaccines. As we reach for the stars, let us not forget those who yearn for the simple embrace of a vaccine, for in their health, we find the canvas of our shared resilience. #immunization #vaccination #safety #protection
