In a meeting held last week, our General Manager, Albert Morell, and Juan Antonio Sepulcre, President of the Fishermen's Guild of Denia, signed an agreement aimed at supporting the fishing sector of the region. In an effort to assist local fishermen during these times of economic inflation, our company has committed to maintaining prices on the services we offer to the guild's boats. This agreement underscores Portdenia Superyacht Marina & Shipyard's commitment to supporting and sustainably developing the local community. The Fishermen's Guild of Denia, represents a vital fishing tradition in the Marina Alta region, and its collaboration with us is a significant step towards protecting this crucial industry. This agreement benefits not only the fishermen but also contributes to the economic and tourist development of Denia. 𝗖𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗹𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗮🚢 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗮𝗺𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗴, located on the Lower Elbe, is about 100 kilometers from where the Elbe flows into the North Sea 🌊. It is nevertheless considered a seaport ⚓, as it can be called at by seagoing vessels with a draught of up to 15 meters. Smaller cruise vessels, including older "pots" from the AIDA fleet 🛳️, often moor at Cruise Center Altona. The environmentally friendly facilities of the Cruise Center Altona are particularly noteworthy 🌱. Since 2016, ships can be 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿⚡𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲. The 𝗔𝗜𝗗𝗔𝘀𝗼𝗹 🛳️ 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲. The shore power supply allows the ships to switch off their engines while they are docked, which leads to a significant reduction in emissions. The Cruise Center Altona opened in 2011 with a quay length of 360 meters 📏. Ships up to 300 meters long can dock there. In 2023, SFT delivered 2 foam filled Ocean Guard Fenders with a diameter of 3000 x 4500mm and a weight of 4,500 kg. The terminal impresses with its central location 🌍: the famous fish market 🎣 and the Oevelgönne museum harbor 🏛️ are within easy walking distance, allowing travelers to experience Hamburg's maritime flair up close. And yet, here we go. Scotland is a proud maritime nation. The country’s seas, coasts and islands are an important part of national identity, highly contributing to creating/sustaining jobs and opportunities locally, and internationally. The unique mix of ownership models and a stable development framework has enabled great successes over the years: 2022 numbers revealed a £2.2 billion in economic activity and 85,000 jobs. The Scottish maritime sector has shown great leadership in the development of new technologies, with hybrid and battery-operated ferries already in service, and the Scottish oil, gas and renewables industries leading the way in helping meet the UK’s energy needs with cleaner, greener energy. With a large proportion of employment in the Marine Oil and Gas activities concentrated in Scotland, it is the largest industry within the Scottish Maritime Sector in terms of economic activity. Particularly,  In 2021, the United Kingdom was the second largest producer of natural gas, petroleum + products in OECD Europe and its offshore renewables sector is the second largest in the world. The vast majority of this industry is based in waters around the Scottish coast. Spot Ship too feels part of this legacy, and wants to shine a light on not only the significance of Scotland to shipping and of Shipping to Scotland, but also on the current and potential value of the #Offshore sector.
