Last month was our busiest March ever, with close to seven million people choosing to travel through Heathrow. It's the second month in a row that we’ve served a record number of passengers, with over 900,000 passengers taking advantage of the bank holiday weekend, making it our busiest Easter weekend on record. To ensure we keep this momentum up, Heathrow is calling on the government to exempt airside transit passengers from the newly introduced Electronic Travel Authorisations (ETAs) scheme. While we support the overall rationale behind them, requiring airside transit passengers to apply will put UK airports at a competitive disadvantage compared to EU hubs. Many long-haul routes, which are highly important to the UK’s economy, exports, and wider connectivity, rely on transit passengers, and with more connecting passengers expected to choose other hubs as the scheme expands, Minsters should take action to remove this measure. June 30 was the airport’s busiest day so far, with over 268,000 passengers traveling on over 1,300 flights. April has been a busy month for Heathrow. We welcomed 6.7 million passengers, bringing the year-to-date total to 25.2 million. East Asian and Middle Eastern routes have seen double-digit percentage increases in passengers with Delhi and Mumbai now the 6th and 8th most popular destinations. Terminal 2 celebrated a significant milestone by welcoming its millionth flight on April 27th. As we continue to grow, our focus remains on delivering reliable journeys for all our customers and preparing for future challenges. However, Government initiatives like unnecessary visas for transiting passengers and the absence of tax-free shopping hinder the UK’s global connectivity. We urge Ministers to take a cross-government approach that supports UK aviation’s competitiveness. Shannon Airport is soaring to new heights, with expectations set for two million passengers this year, a milestone not seen in 15 years. Mary Considine, the airport's chief executive, anticipates this significant growth after a stellar performance in 2023, where passenger numbers surged by 29% compared to 2022. The airport's annual report reflects this impressive growth, with 1.959 million passengers passing through its gates in 2023. Building on this momentum, Shannon is gearing up for a landmark year in 2024, buoyed by a 12% increase in passengers during the first three months of this year compared to 2023. The recovery at local airports from the ravages of the Covid-19 pandemic continued last year, though at a slower pace. More than 91 million passengers went through the gates at the four airports serving Los Angeles County last year, up nearly 13% from 2022 but still nearly 12% short of the record 103 million passengers in pre-pandemic 2019.

Huntsville International Airport (HSV) broke all previous passenger traffic records in 2023 marking its busiest year ever. More than 1.47 million (1,473,629) passengers traveled through HSV with an annual increase of 22.7% in traffic over 2022. The last highest year on record, 2019, saw 1,445,365 passengers traveling through Huntsville International. Airport leadership believes that the Huntsville and North Alabama market – as well as the airport infrastructure – will support the addition of more flights and additional nonstop service in the year to come. https://lnkd.in/eFTSgfwe
