🔊 Q1 | Third Republic | Texas HQ | Recap Jan was quiet (as expected!) Feb & March busiest we've seen the job market in the last 12 months+ We helped 78 different candidates secure 1st interviews, successfully placing 23 people into new jobs (not too bad for a team of 3 - with couple days still to go!) Of those 23 placements, 12 are working in a hybrid or fully on-site capacity. Overall, successful quarter, with plenty of appetite in the market for hiring in both the SI and End-User markets. The main thing to keep in mind, it's still an employer's market, hiring cycles are lengthier and more of our customers are carrying out further due diligence before extending an offer. RTO is becoming a more frequent ask by the week and preference for local and same state candidates more and more popular as businesses look to keep travel costs down. We are feeling very optimistic and pumped about Q2, which we will be kicking off with a bang with our North Dallas Meetup event @Salesforce HQ on April 4th. We still have 14+ active jobs we're shortlisting for too... "I hired you because you came from Salesforce." He got the hire he deserved: me. I bombed at the job. Turns out the role called for a practioner with experience deploying end to end enterprise data platforms. Where do you find those people? Definitely not in SaaS companies building data tooling. You find them in the customers of SaaS companies that build data tooling. He would would have been much better off hiring a PM from a retail chain or a manufacturer or a logistics company or a bank or even the internal data team of a SaaS company. Literally anything but an actual SaaS data product manager. Too bad he discriminated against all those people as "consultants, not real product managers". Are you hiring for a data PM role? You will work with the Associate Deputy Commissioner of Technology, Analytics and Digital Transformation to define the technical and data architecture and direction for the Organization’s new Salesforce LPI application, a cloud-based solution for professional licensing and inspection. You will work with the the Organization team to establish the working agreements between the Organization and the software implementation vendor’s technical teams, defining the technology milestones and delivery schedules, and product release criteria. You will ensure the Organization’s vendor(s) execute on the technical vision and deliver high-quality software and solutions for the constituents of the Commonwealth. While the Organization has defined a conceptual, high-level solution architecture, the early stages of this role will involve refining the solution architecture in partnership with the Organization’s selected implementing vendor as part of the initial implementation. #2 Technology and solution leadership. For those hiring in the #salesforce ecosystem, what skills do you wish you could test for your candidates? When I was hiring for a Sr Developer role, I wrote an unmanaged package with certain issues peppered within and asked the candidates who made it to the final interview to code review the package. I was looking for simple best practices like DML in loops, etc…, but I also wanted to test the ability to step back and identify system-wide issues with how things were set up. This proved extremely useful in evaluating candidates, so I want to hear what practices you would test if you were doing the same!
