I am in a weird position, and really anyone with an HR background is in this place. Do you find yourself being critical of others recruiting processes? Well, I am. And this place has been wonderful from beginning to end. This is without me landing a role as a candidate. The communication was on point and the consideration was plentiful. So if I preach to this experience as a candidate without actually landing a role, imagine what it’d be like to be their client. AH-MAZING If you HAVE to outsource your recruiting? If you want to make a freelancer/contractor relationship work, you have to do 1 thing: Treat them like any other employee. The biggest mistake organizations make with freelancers is not integrating them into their teams. Without a connection to their team and their work, how can people be expected to do their best work? It doesn't matter what the role is, you have to make the effort to involve someone in the culture of your organization. Invite them to meetings and encourage them to share their ideas. A lot of the time, when I hear people complain about alternative staffing models not working, I know it’s probably because they didn’t do enough to bring their remote staff on board. You can’t expect people to be motivated to work if they’re not being treated like people. To get success, you have to give first. Look after your people, even if they’re not in the office with you!
