Seventeen-year-old Logan's wish for a shopping spree has been granted. His largest purchase was identical computers, one for him and one for his twin brother! Logan, who has cancer, still had some shopping spree funds leftover, so we sent a limo to his house in Caldwell, whisking him and his family to Best Buy in Boise where he picked out a laptop and some gift cards for his various gaming platforms. Afterwards, the family ate at Longhorn Steakhouse to celebrate the wish and then enjoyed another limo ride home. "Logan's excited, happy, and grateful. James (his brother) was in shock at the kindness of his twin brother. They are on their headsets helping each other get the towers setup. The bond is even stronger. Happiness is a big part of healing the body, and today brought happiness in bundles to a child. We are grateful for every day. Thank you to Make-A-Wish and everyone involved for bringing a child's wish to life,” his grandma wrote.

R5 Reflections: California Nightmare On Such A Summer’s Day R5 traveled to California last week and spent 3 days in stores and concluded that the state of CA is broken. Why? A few reasons...Rampant theft, sky-high prices and an epidemic of homelessness. A depressing discussion we had with a Five Below employee after attempting to use the self-checkout, which are now disabled, talking with the new security personnel standing guard at the front entrance of Ross (covered by Mark Herrmann) and witnessing thieves bolting out of a TJ Maxx arms filled with merchandise, plus parking far away from the Petco (Not Covered) and Dollar Tree stores to avoid homeless people in the parking lot. In our view, the retailers that are more exposed to the market have enormous challenges, and these difficulties are probably helping Amazon and other ecommerce centric companies. The 93 Boyz, putting da muscle and da money where da mouth is. Dishing up non-stop, hyperlocal community relations. Read more, below. LeMonica G., bless you for steering these Boyz to fuel the right things, people, and places. Keep the pedal to the metal, my friend. #socialimpact #givingback #communityresilience #marginalizedcommunities
A couple of months ago one of our biggest 93 Boyz supporters reached out to Vic to tell him about Da Book Joint, a mother & daughter owned bookstore located on 51st in Boxville-Chicago (Bronzeville). She let Vic know that due to some issues with rent they were considering closing their doors. After meeting Verlean and Courtney, we really felt like our values and mission were so aligned that we wanted to do something to help them come into this year with more stability. Sooooo we decided to cut a check for a year of their rent! We appreciate the work these two ladies are doing for the community & couldn’t think of anyone more deserving. Consider taking a break from online shopping this year and pull up to Da Book Joint for all your gifting needs! Tell em 93 Boyz sent ya! 😉 #ForTheBlock #BlessTheBlock #Chicago #93Boyz #WomensHistoryMonth

✒️ 'The leap of faith that comes with #onlineshopping necessitates a decent #returns process' | Writes Helena Morrissey 'I hope you got what you wanted for #Christmas; it’s a cliché, but a happy #family day is always top of my #wishlist. 'This year included the extra joy of four generations celebrating my youngest grandson’s first Christmas, and my husband dressing up as #Santa to mark the occasion (and make it especially memorable). '#Gifts were secondary, but most seemed to hit the mark, although inevitably there were a few items that didn’t quite live up to expectations. 'The boring task of arranging returns now looms, something we’d all rather forget about but it needs doing (and quickly) to avoid missing cut-off dates, wasting #money and cluttering up the house. '(My husband’s eyes glazed over when I showed him this article; with him protesting he “just wasn’t interested” in #consumerrights – sorry, Richard, but this is why so many #companies get away with poor quality and #service). 'So while I’d like to forget about the world as much as possible between Christmas and the #NewYear, I will carve out an afternoon to re-package items and join the long #PostOffice #queue to send off returns. 'And then (admittedly with less enthusiasm than the first time around) I’ll sort out replacements – and check my #bank account for #refunds. 'But getting our money back, exchanging clothing for the right size, or returning a defective item isn’t always straightforward.' Back in September, a graphic of me was created for me for my birthday. I thought it was dope, and since I'm always looking for new ways to increase my personal efforts in the community, I decided to make a play with it. https://lnkd.in/gybdyN9R On October 1st I officially launched M.E. (Matching Everything) I haven't really promoted it heavily, but a few weeks ago, the online store hit 100 sales. Which is crazy to me. Incredibly humbling to have that much support, and folks interested in something that has my face on it. 🙈 This brand was me stepping way out of my comfort zone. I prefer behind the scenes, so pushing something with me front and center takes some getting used to. With this brand, 100% of proceeds will ALWAYS go to charitable efforts in the community. I called it it M.E. (Matching Everything) for a few reasons: -First reason is simple, those who know ME, know I'm always Matching Everything. -Second reason is since 100% of proceeds will go to charitable efforts in the community, and my passion for giving back, I'll personally be matching all contributions. I greatly appreciate all the support, and just know your support will help the community, in some way. FOR THE MONTH OF JANUARY, ENTER THE CODE "BeanieSzn" FOR 10% OFF YOUR ORDER! https://lnkd.in/gvjH6Zfp I'll be ramping up promo on this merch line, and adding new stuff monthly. Acknowledge and celebrate the win, 100 is a big milestone for this. Now we work on hitting the milestone. Keep Going, and keep Growing. Thank you all. You are the real MVPs for championing M.E. #MatchingEverything

It's impossible to watch this and not be moved deeply. Beautifully filmed, the acting impeccable, so real it's like you're there. Such beauty and such deep love and sorrow. It's about loving people who desperately need help. Know that kindnesses are remembered and how important they are. Synopsis: From the world of Wonder, which sparked a movement to "choose kind," comes the inspirational next chapter: WHITE BIRD. Struggling to fit in at his new school after being expelled for his treatment of Auggie Pullman, Julian (Bryce Gheisar) is visited by his grandmother (Helen Mirren) and is transformed by the compassionate and heroic story of her attempts to escape Nazi-occupied France during WWII. From the director of Finding Neverland, WHITE BIRD reminds us to be brave and choose kind. "Urgent Care" for Public Affairs, PR, Media, Policy. Deep experience with BH/acute hospitals, MedTech, other scrutinized sectors. Jewish nonprofit leader. Alum: UHS, Amazon, Burson, Edelman. Former LinkedIn Top Voice.
Neither of our daughters are on LinkedIn yet but our youngest Lola wanted some real world business experience. And since it was 73° yesterday in Madison (normal high around 38°), we did the Lemonade and Oreo stand with 50% of proceeds going to the UW Health Children’s Hospital. Lola sold about $40 dollars, not including cost of goods sold, a concept she had a really hard time understanding 😂😂. A few PR/marketing observations / lessons: 1) Cuteness still sells, so does yelling at passersby. 2) If you offer “free” cookies with the Lemonade purchase, you command a higher price point than selling separately. 3) Announcing the sale on your neighborhood FB group and Listserve helps spur demand, but the informal parent group text chains are more powerful. 4) If you’ve recently completed a home renovation, some Lemonade patrons will implicitly expect a quick tour through the house. 5) COGS is a really hard concept for a 7 year old… it’s best to explain to them that in the real world, the money you make is after accounting for overhead. 6) We probably should’ve made some signs and posted around the neighborhood with the address and time, but realized we didn’t have posterboard, that was a miss. *she basically told us that there was no overhead for her, that was our problem (I love this girl).* Any other pointers from folks in the food and retail industry?

We have a challenge for you. Helping heroes is as simple as sharing this post: Homes for Heroes is program that offers rebates to Teachers, Healthcare Professionals, Firefighters/EMT, Law Enforcement, and Military/Veterans when they buy, sell, or refinance a home - no questions asked. Let's say a home costs $380,000. With Homes for Heroes, heroes who use our program could save roughly $3,300 after closing, and even more if they buy AND sell. Why do we do it? Heroes make an impact in our lives every day through their lifesaving care and service. It might not be the most obvious way to give back, but it sure does make a difference in the lives of the people who serve us each and every day. Our challenge to you: If you know a hero who is considering making a real estate move, share this post. https://lnkd.in/giP-vN7G
