Gómez-Acebo & Pombo has advised the founders and management team of ETNAGA, which operates through the online ticketing platform BOL, on the sale of 90% of the share capital to SIC and the CREST II fund. The founders of Etnaga will continue to hold a shareholder stake and remain in the executive management of the company. SIC – Sociedade Independente de Comunicação was the first private television channel to operate in Portugal, founded in 1987. CREST II – FCR is a leading venture capital investment fund in the Portuguese private equity market. PLMJ advised SIC – Sociedade Independente de Comunicação in making a joint investment with the CREST II FCR fund to jointly acquire a stake in the share capital of Etnaga – Consultores Sistemas de Informação. Etnaga. With this agreement, SIC will indirectly hold a 27% stake in Etnaga, the company that owns the online ticketing platform BOL. This investment is part of SIC’s strategic plan, which has set as priority objectives the acceleration of digital transformation and the diversification of its revenue sources. Bwgi Brasil Warrant Gestão De Investimentos, the very private family office behind the fortune of the Moreira Salles family, released its annual report of sorts this week showing that as of Dec. 31 it managed nearly $11 billion and employed 78 people. In 2023, BWGI bought a 6.2% stake in Elis, adding to its portfolio of publicly-traded French companies. It's the largest shareholder of glass packaging producer Verallia (28% stake). But of course the bulk of its cash comes from dividends from Itaú Unibanco (~9% stake) and CBMM (70% stake). Its in-house hedge fund Mantiqueira has also posted total returns of 143% over five years and has some $2.2 billion of assets.
