RNs attended this event have since graduated and CRNAs or senior students. Dr. Lowe’s DNP scholarly capstone project topic was ‘Obstetric Protocol for the Jehova’s Witness population’. As you know, during labor delivery, blood loss and fluid shifts happen and JW women can not accept blood products per their religious beliefs. Dr. Lowe’s scholarly project was adopted as protocol in the OB unit with a high population of patients’ who are from the Jehova Witness community. Better health outcomes as a result of his doctorate capstone. We are starting our first trauma registry! Trauma is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality globally, with a disproportionate burden affecting low- and middle-income countries (LMIC). Our reason for embarking on this strategic journey is driven by our goal to analyze the impact of trauma and the nature of injuries in our hospital based patient population and nationally so that we and our healthcare partners can develop quality improvement initiatives that prevent injury, optimize trauma care and provide vital information to policy makers on resource allocation and injury prevention programs.
