Starting January 1, 2025, intermodal containers sold for domestic use in the United States must comply with new regulations mandating the use of refrigerants with a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of less than 700. 🌍🌡️ The regulatory change is expected to significantly impact the intermodal container industry, which imports several thousand reefers annually into the US. While most machines use R134a as refrigerant, the GWP of 1430 makes it non-compliant to the regulation. Is Carrier still producing their "green machine" with CO2 and 0 (cero) GWP? Hence, the entire subject is meaningless if there are solutions already manufactured and more improvements to come, frum such brand or from any other with that goal in mind. The old machines should be sold NOR,and use for housing or whatever alternative use but not for transportation.

I guess it is more complicated today than in 2014 with only R134A and R404 on-board.

With the repeal of the Chevron Doctrine, this edict is essentially moot! The challenges ahead for overreaching government agencies is ripe for challenges.
