This idea had been floating around in my mind for about half a year, but I never felt brave enough to try it... until now. This displacement map was generated procedurally in Houdini in just half an hour, without deep thought or extensive reference analysis. But potentially it's a cool thing. The 'pores' are placed onto the scattered points, allowing us to control their distribution, depth, and size in different zones of the face UV. We can control the amount, depth, and primary orientation of micro wrinkles, as well as adjust the height of bulging between 'pores'. So, with SOPs and COPs, we potentially can pretty much proceduralize the micro detailing of the skin - differently in different zones of the face. Upd: And yes, as regards peach fuzz, another awesome thing is that we actually can take these scattered point positions and put our little hair right there! Right into 'pores'! So the face groom and skin detailing will be consistent. Isn't it cool? Upd-2: Or vice versa, we can extract hair attachment positions and spread darker spots over the scalp texture right in those places (a kind of hair root that is visible through the translucent layer of the skin). So we can get a more natural look in the hairline zone.

Do you know first toothbrush bristles were made from pig's neck hair? In 15th century, Chinese made first natural bristles toothbrush using bristles (short thick hair) from pig's neck. Before that, frayed end of aromatic tree twigs were used as chewing sticks. Later, Europeans used horse hairs and feathers to make toothbrush bristles. While, first toothbrush handles were carved out of cattle bone. Nylon (synthetic) bristles were introduced in 1938 with invention of nylon. First electric toothbrush came into picture around 1939.
