What does thin privilege look like? 🤔 ✈️ Finnair recently launched a project at Helsinki Airport where volunteer passengers are being weighed at the gate. These volunteer passengers are praised for being "brave." But this is thin privilege in action.  In the past, Finnair has relied on average passenger weights provided by the European Aviation Safety Authority. But Finnair says weighing its own passengers will better balance the aircraft and ensure a smoother flight. We're not buying it – this is fatphobia. Public weigh-ins are invasive, exclusive, and disrespectful of passenger privacy. Finnair insists the weight data will remain private, and only volunteers will be weighed. But larger passengers will likely not feel comfortable subjecting themselves to public weighing. A service delivery organisation is like an airline, with a project being like a flight.   - A flight needs resources - an aeroplane, pilots, cabin crew, engineers, fuel, catering, etc. - Lots of ticket sales but no resources - no actual revenue, and unhappy customers. - Lots of aeroplanes and pilots but no seats sold - happy pilots, but airline working at a loss.   Profitable flights - Using the right resources to deliver happy passengers, to their destination, on time, with their bags! Hilti Air work hard to give their clients a seamless, smooth private charter 👇 👉Planning months in advance – Depending on the event size, they actually start planning and preparing months in advance because there are only so many landing/parking slots available for our helicopters and fixed-wing aircrafts at special events (and these need to be scheduled). 👉Preparing for the event – they’ll keep an eye on the weather right up until the event, and if needs be they’ll identify alternative landing options to avoid any bad weather. And they also gather passenger details, such as how many people will be attending, passenger names, passport numbers if flying abroad, etc. 👉 Organising on the day – During preparation, Hilti Air passengers have access to a fully stocked refreshments lounge where they can relax while our team ensure the pilot has everything they need, the aircraft checks are completed, it is fuelled, and the ground crew are ready. 👉 Checking safety – While clients are flying to their event, Hilti Air track the flight on the radar to ensure everything goes smoothly. 👉 Conducting essential maintenance – Once the event is over and the aircraft is back at base, Hilti Air conducts any required maintenance checks and clean the aircraft to ensure it’s in tip-top shape for the following day's flight.
