#artmuseums need to inform and tell their patrons the story of the #art and #artist.
Art interaction is what it should be about, not just a superficial walk in, through and out a #gallery.
At @ackland_art_museum , besides the quintessential vinyl labels, to learn more, a stack of #artguides with a #qrcode was in each #museumgallery .
By our accounts, #thefineartledger was the only visitor in the gallery that used the guide - the QR Code took us to a static info sheet , for example, of @julie_heffernan_ ‘s beautiful
“Self-Portrait as Dirty Princess”, 2004 , #oiloncanvas and gave us a few lines in #pdf of the #artstory …
And the @ncartmuseum , while the ubiquitous vinyl labels abounded, and there was some very cool digital interaction on one or two select #artwork , we were relegated to hand held #artsmart cardboard sheets telling us about the art.
Come on art #museums ! You can do way better then this : why not tell the art and #artiststory directly to the devices your patrons and visitors use the most, their #mobilephones ?!
Think how you can not only tell the story and educate, making the #art engaging and interactive , but also offer specials, #museummembership or #giftshop opportunities for purchase right then and there…
With #thefineartledger this is oh so easy!
