I’ve talked to dozens of law firm owners over the last couple of months. Every single one of them had one thing in common - they wanted more cases. And not just any type of cases, but cases with their ideal clients. Most of them were relying on referrals to get a bigger caseload. And many have worked with lead providers where the leads they were given were not closeable. But then you look at many other law firms that are incredibly successful. They are signing several hundreds of cases every month and doing it with an absolute ease. What are they doing differently? The main differentiating factor is that they own their own lead generation infrastructure. This allows them to be in control of every part of the process. Such as who they are targeting, how they are attracting these types of people, what qualification systems they go through, and how by the point they get in touch with an attorney they are qualified and ready to pull the trigger. Instead of paying for leads, they understand the value of owning their own system that they can control. Because how can you expect to scale to several millions if you’re not in control of the most important department of any business - marketing & sales? So with that being said, my biggest advice to you is to stop paying for pay-per-lead services unless it’s working for you. And instead, focus on building your own infrastructure that you have control of. That’s why we focus on building lead generation & sales infrastructures in law firms that they can own forever. Which allows some of our partners to book upwards of 5 qualified appointments per day. Last week in our "Elevate Your Law Firm by Freeing Your Attorney From Meetings" we discussed the three biggest concerns law firms have in shifting the sales meeting away from the attorney. The first was "Can the non-attorney close sales?" The real answer is - we don't know yet. We don't have a crystal ball. I can absolutely confirm that a non-attorney CAN close sales. Often more effectively than the attorney. Can this person close sales? Not only do we have to try it and see, we have to PREPARE for it and COURSE CORRECT. I see so many law firms never make a change due to fear of what might happen, which leaves them stuck and unable to grow. Or they get frustrated and say "just do it!" and wing it with no preparation and no measuring so they can course correct immediately. We learned what metrics to track to make sure your firm has their eye on the closing conversion rate. We planned by anticipating a temporary drop in conversation rate and what the actual revenue loss to the firm would be, and how to plan for it should it occur. And created a plan for checking daily, weekly and monthly to see how conversion rates are trending so we can course correct and support our new sales person versus be panicked and surprised 4 weeks in. We also dove into the other 2 biggest concerns "How can a non-attorney do a sales meeting without giving legal advice which they aren't allowed to do?" and "What if clients get upset they aren't meeting with the founding attorney?"
