Everything that could go wrong did go wrong. That seems to be a typical situation before showcasing demos in the tech world. Here is my experience of Murphy’s Law over the last 10 days while working on the robot dog demo for the IROS conference: 1. The Wi-Fi died right when the guests entered the room to try out the demo. 2. The camera mount broke down and got stuck. 3. A new failure case of the model was found during the showcase. Even though these situations are frustrating, they are part of the development process. What is important is the spirit that drives teammates to quickly come up with solutions and put everything back on track. P.S. Wish my team luck with the demo at IROS! 🍀

Junior Project Manager & Team Assistant | LPC Graduate University of Law | LLB Graduate University of Bristol | Multilingual
After attending the Lifecycle of a tech start-up with Harbottle & Lewis and their graduate recruitment team, I’ve definitely learned more about the type of work they carry out and what you can expect as a prospective trainee there. I found the presentation provided by the partners and associates very informative. This session was definitely a deep dive into the phases and journeys of a tech start-up company. One of the partners talked about how H&L started as a media and entertainment firm, yet broadened their legal services to their firm and found themselves at the forefront of legal tech. Not only did I learn about start ups and the challenges you may encounter during this process (as a lawyer), but also how founders of start ups are quite different from big corporations. One of the partners in the corporate team mentioned that the way you communicate and explain to them the relevant law and processes pertinent to the founders are going to be inherently different in comparison to big corporations with tons of experience in the industry. It was quite refreshing to hear this, as with law, there’s so much legal jargon involved. This got me thinking about the interpersonal skills involved when it comes to working with people, and how much a client from one background may differ from another. I just want to express my thanks to Harbottle & Lewis and Legal Cheek for co-hosting this event and putting it together! It was a great introduction and informative session not only to the firm but also to the type of work trainees are exposed to at H&L.
We are LIVE at this afternoon's virtual student event, ‘Lifecycle of a tech start-up – with Harbottle & Lewis!' On the agenda:

I’ve just returned from the exciting #RIC forum in Dallas that ended last Thursday, March 28, 2024. The OUSD #FutureG office sponsored this with our longtime partner from the #5GChallenge, the #ITS group at #NTIA. An in-person crowd of ~150 attendees with a passion for Open RAN and the RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC) made for a very engaging meeting! Besides interesting keynotes and panels, the marquee event was a remarkable series of 10 live demos of the RIC running diverse x/rApps on networks all over the world, each presented individually before a live and remote audience of over 300 people. We capped it off with a 3rd day focused on business and global deployments with industry leaders. I had the unenviable task of recapping the first two days of demos at the start of the 3rd day. I'll say it was certainly impressive to see all those demos one after the other, even more so that they all worked! The fact that they were not seamless confirms these were real demos, too. We saw real applications running on real operator networks with real data from multiple actors in the RIC space. That certainly goes a long way toward demonstrating readiness to deploy. We also saw innovative apps from academic contributors. It struck me how their pathway for innovation has been greatly accelerated by their development in a standards-based framework. Things can move quickly from innovation to application when we are using a common framework. That's enough for now, but stay tuned tomorrow for the rest of my notes. All in all it felt like a watershed moment for Open RAN, the RIC, and the apps. more on the RIC forum from NTIA here: https://lnkd.in/gSwdGutY
