Sometimes I see a post on my feed that stands out for all the right reasons. Thank you to Matthias Tauber for this one... A lot of the people I coach are highly driven, high achieving leaders. They achieve success, and hit and exceed goals, but it's often at the cost of burning out those around them, and making big compromises in their own life and relationships. Taking some time every day to reflect, express appreciation and gratitude, and/or to celebrate is often not their top priority, when the next exciting goal is already pressing on them, luring them in with the promise of another dopamine hit. But all of these practices build confidence, resilience, loyalty, balance, belonging, fulfilment, connection, loyalty, psychological safety and joy in their teams. Pausing to reflect, appreciate and celebrate also provides a natural reset and refresh for individuals who aren't driven quite so relentlessly in the pursuit of corporate success, but are highly valuable contributors, all the same. When practiced as a team, it allows people with different learning styles, competencies, values and strengths to catch up, celebrate, connect and regroup together, before embarking on the next task. It might seem like an indulgence, but really it's a necessity for long-game success and a positive sum impact in the world.
