In honor of World Environment Day, we are celebrating what is at the root of LOUIS XIII Cognac: the unique terroir of Cognac Grand Champagne. For centuries now, this ancient, chalk-rich soil has become the life source for vines that produce grapes of exceptional aromatic potential. Season after season, year after year, our winegrowers perpetuate the life cycle between terroir and vine to create the future LOUIS XIII Cognac. Today, we honor this precious terroir given to us by nature and transformed by time. With the support of the House of Rémy Martin, LOUIS XIII is engaged in a series of sustainable practices designed to ensure the longevity of this terroir and the transmission of its legacy to the future. Alentejo - a province with amazing views, wineries and tranquility. Alentejo is a region in Portugal known for its vastness and rural landscapes. The name "Alentejo" is derived from the Portuguese words "além do Tejo," meaning "beyond the Tagus River." Historically it became an important region during the Portuguese Age of Discovery, as many expeditions departed from the port of Setúbal. Alentejo was also a significant agricultural and wine-producing area during the medieval period. In more recent history, it played a role in the Carnation Revolution of 1974, which marked the end of the Estado Novo regime.
