After reading the “BIG” De Beers announcement in mid September about their plans to reintroduce the historic “A Diamond is Forever” campaign I decided to share some of my recent thoughts on this subject. I put a few words together, not just on this subject but also about the perfect storm the global diamond industry is currently facing and also about the pitiful ignorance currently played out by the majority. I have been in the diamond industry long enough to realize what was will not be!! I do notice an ongoing transition and believe most are not able to grasp its magnitude! Everything we knew and understood from the past is simply becoming irrelevant, from what diamonds symbolize through their various valuing propositions and finally the different consumers and their desires for diamonds (or diamond jewelry). While the global industry still tries to hold on to their historic practices, a new and different generation is arising and they are showing they want a difference! They are craving for innovation, for the unique. One certainty that is taking shape, the importance of ‘diamond material’ as we knew and understood for decades is being hugely challenged. Diamond (and jewelry) design capabilities are becoming the new principles of value! This is a huge philosophical change for this industry.., which seems to be very hard to accept! Yoram Finkelstein, what if we revisited the most famous natural diamonds and took your suggestion to celebrate and explore new ways to cut modern diamonds? I wholeheartedly agree and appreciate the proposal to highlight the beauty of both lab-grown and natural diamonds, acknowledging that they can coexist harmoniously. It doesn't have to be an either-or scenario. Perhaps, by calming the industry down and fostering unity, the common interest and love for diamonds could bridge the divide that currently exists. Embracing the diversity within the industry, both in terms of diamond origins and cutting techniques, might be the key to not only surviving but thriving in this evolving landscape. Let's consider this as an opportunity for collective growth and collaboration. Thoughts?

As I watch this Tiffany & Co. ad, it makes me sad. Some time ago, I explored the websites of all the major maisons to create my #jewellery wish list. It was essential for me that the creations were in my taste yet not widespread and very regognisable. The other day, I was scrolling through Instagram and saw all the influencers wearing the Lock bracelet by #TiffanyAndCo - and it lost its leading position on my wish list the same day. Now I see the necklace, which was one of my favorites, all over the media - and it is sadly losing its sparkle too. Both models have slightly lost their exclusivity for me. There is a notable difference in ways to capture the hearts (and wallets) of aspirational customers versus VICs. LVMH knows that - and gives different approaches. A few month ago I got an offer to put my hands on limited edition Tiffany & Co. x Arsham T1 Bracelet - only 186 sets were made. It felt unique - and that was the feeling I wanted to get from items in a wish-list. I got the offer for T1 bracelet from one of LVMH companies. As that particular company considered me as VIC I could use their newly-launched personalized service for high spenders and such offers were part of the service. Similar project idea has been in my head for some time. As a #VIC loyalty consultant in luxury fashion I was excited to observe how it would work in the hands of the #luxury biggest player. It failed. *** What was this LVMH company? Why did it lose my loyalty with that VIC service? My first time ever writing and editing a corporate film! Lessons learned - Crafting a corporate film for a textile giant felt like weaving through the bustling streets of Chandni Chowk—full of surprises at every turn. Here's the cliff notes version of our rollercoaster ride: 1. Lost in Translation: Our journey resembled a Bollywood plot twist, where miscommunication reigned supreme. Lesson learned? Swap the "Hum Aapke Hain Koun" guessing game for clear communication. Be the Simran to your client's Raj—chase after clarity until every expectation sings in harmony. 2. Creative Clash: Picture a Bollywood director trying to shoot a Hollywood flick. Balancing our edgy creativity with the client's expectations was like serving biryani at a pizza party. The takeaway? Spice up your creativity, but remember to throw in some paneer for the desi palate and keep your team's jadoo alive. 3. Footage Fiasco: Drowning in a sea of footage, we felt like extras in "Lagaan" facing an endless over. The solution? Don't let your project become a Bollywood plot with too many dance numbers. Before hitting that edit button, declutter your clips so only the hero shots make it to the big screen. Your computer will thank you, and so will your editor.
