Things we encounter are life lessons. The lessons that we did not expect or come from left field, are the ones that stick to us the most whether it is personal or professional. Let’s take the bull by the horns and create our own narrative. Let those life lessons build character! #BTBHR

Did you know today, May 9, is National Lost Sock Memorial Day? 🧦 Today, we honor those lone warriors who bravely ventured into the dark abyss of the dryer and never returned. 🕳️ Let's take a moment to remember all the socks who've gone missing in action, leaving their partners to wander the world alone. 🌍 Whether they vanished into thin air or found a new home in Narnia, their absence is felt in every mismatched pair. 🧦 #LostSockMemorialDay #LostSock #HRProfessional #TalentAcquisition #Recruiter

We were excited to work with Sir Mix-A-Lot because he’s so much more than a rapper, just like we’re so much more than towing! And yes, he was willing to change his name.

One of the greatest things about the Disney races is that they offer a great opportunity to bring substantial attention to a cause. This year I got to speak on the Jumbotron to 12192 people. When I got to speak I brought attention to a study done by Brown University. The study showed that 30177 active duty military have died to suicide compared to the 7057 that we have lost to combat since 9/11. When I share these numbers I then deliver my keynote, it CAN be to late to send a text or phone call to a friend telling them that you’re thinking about them or asking about their day. Maybe you know the feeling, but a simple, “hey man, I’ve been thiinking about you, how have you been?”, can be a life changing sentence to people. Delivering this message can always be a little intimidating because it’s not a happy message. People still found me during the race to thank me for my message and some even sprinting up to me to talk to me so we’d walk together for some time so I could listen. The point is this, if you’re thinking about someone, don’t wait to reach out. Reach out and let them know. Reach out to those around you and when you ask how they’re doing, give them the time to listen. We can bring the number of suicides down. We just have to start making a change with how we interact with people. https://lnkd.in/gj3yupzw <-link to study

Resident Services Coordinator | Passionate About Housing Solutions | Advocating for Affordable, Inclusive Communities | Aspiring Project Manager in Housing & Community Development
As I reflect on Brené Brown’s iconic “Wanna sandwich?” empathy-fail cartoon, I’m reminded of how crucial true empathy is, not just in our personal lives but in the workplace as well. How often do we, as leaders or colleagues, miss the mark when someone is struggling? Offering surface-level solutions without truly connecting with the deeper human experience? In a world where employee well-being and connection are key to fostering thriving, productive environments, we need to ask ourselves: Are we showing empathy or just offering “sandwiches”? Let’s commit to creating workplaces where we genuinely listen, understand, and support one another. Empathy isn’t a buzzword—it’s a leadership skill that can transform teams, retain talent, and foster a culture of trust. 💡 How do you bring empathy to your leadership style? I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences. 🤝 #Leadership #EmpathyInTheWorkplace #BreneBrown #EmotionalIntelligence #WorkCulture
I can’t believe it’s been ten years since we first met that damn “Wanna sandwich?” empathy-fail deer! Thank you Katy Ross (Gobblynne) and The RSA (The royal society for arts, manufactures and commerce) for turning this talk into an amazing cartoon. ❤️, BB https://lnkd.in/gVFU5eW8
