Something every cold storage facility (even more so if you are in an area with high cost for electricity) should be considering.
Viking Cold Solutions was proud to support Feeding Northeast Florida this past Saturday as they celebrated their 10-year anniversary of fighting hunger in a region where 1 in 5 children faces food insecurity. We're helping the food bank to lower energy costs, improve food quality, and expand the reach of their services with the installation of our Thermal Energy Storage system — so more families in Northeast Florida can access the nourishment they need. Important consideration - what is needed versus what you enjoy / prefer / like (?) to give. Full recovery will take months, if not years. Think / plan how your support can be longer-term.
Asheville, NC update: for those who are eager to help and have not already, pause for a moment. Buncombe County is saturated with resources, volunteers, food, water right now. Please give our community time to distribute and organize. What we will need is support in 3-4 weeks once these supplies are depleted. Needs may also change at that point, and the media buzz about WNC might be quiet(er). That is when we will need your support to sustain the community and fuel rebuilding efforts. If you need to take action now, I recommend Manna Food Bank: a community lifeline that was already serving food insecurity needs across 16 counties in western NC (for the last 40 years!) Their primary warehouse was lost to flooding, and they are rebooting to meet the needs of our area. They are well connected across the region, managed to save their distribution trucks, and have the means to reach rural areas with most need: https://lnkd.in/enZn3RXF

Hunger continues to be one of the most challenging barriers to health equity in our community. The folks at Second Helpings are continuing to do what they can, but they can't do it alone. Let's all find a way to work together to help our neighbors fight the issues that keep them food insecure, or led them there in the first place. Housing insecurity, childcare insecurity, transportation insecurity, losing a job and/or challenges with finding new employment... There are many factors to what causes or keeps a family food insecure, and while getting them fed is a priority, we all need to call more attention to the root causes and focus on solutions together. In the meantime, please consider supporting our friends at Second Helpings, as they are able to stretch every dollar into some of the most delicious and nutritious meals in our community! Looking to get involved in deeper solutions? Reach out, and let's talk! #FoodEquity #HealthEquity #SecondHelpings #NourishEDGEsolutions
The Indy Hunger Network estimates that 31% of Marion County residents, nearly a third of our neighbors, need food assistance. Their 2023 Hunger Study found that "hunger was at its highest level in the last decade. We feel those statistics every day in our Hunger Relief kitchen, where we continue to break records for monthly production numbers. As Second Helpings experiences increased costs, we need your support to continue producing more meals. Every $1.71 provides a meal for someone in our community: https://lnkd.in/dcqkKYYx

🚨 Big win for hunger relief, but the work isn’t over! 🚨 The USDA’s recent announcement of $1 billion in new funding for emergency food assistance is a major victory for hunger-relief advocates. This funding is a direct result of the collective efforts of individuals like YOU and the Feeding America network — and it couldn’t come at a more critical time, as 1 in 10 people in the Blue Ridge area struggle with hunger. Here’s how the funds break down: 🍎 $500 million for The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) 🥕 $500 million for the Local Food Purchase Assistance Cooperative Agreement Program (LFPA) While this provides some much-needed relief for food banks, including ours, we still face unprecedented demand for services. The Farm Bill, which funds critical programs like TEFAP, is still under debate in Congress. Without sustained advocacy, we risk losing vital support for those who rely on us. Let’s keep the momentum going! We urge you to join us in advocating for a strong Farm Bill to ensure long-term solutions for food insecurity. ➡️ Learn how you can take action here: https://bit.ly/3XIjnQU #FarmBill #HungerRelief #AdvocacyMatters #FeedingAmerica #EndHunger #BlueRidgeAreaFoodBank #TEFAP #FoodSecurity

In Michigan, nearly 12% of people face food insecurity, and many of our community members face barriers to accessing nutritious food. Food insecurity has soared over the past few years, making it more important than ever to create a future where our food system is equitable, sustainable, and equipped to meet southeast Michigan’s needs. At our foundation, we support a number of nonprofit organizations, including Fair Food Network, Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan, Forgotten Harvest, Capuchin Soup Kitchen, and Make Food Not Waste, who are working to increase food access, destigmatized food insecurity, and provide education and resources so that people throughout our region can thrive. For years, West Advisory Group has proudly partnered with the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwestern Pennsylvania, working together to alleviate hunger in Erie County and beyond. We’ve witnessed firsthand the devastating impact that food insecurity can have on families and individuals in our region. Hunger doesn’t just mean empty stomachs—it means children struggling to focus in school, parents facing difficult choices between groceries and bills, and seniors who’ve worked their entire lives left without enough to eat. This issue affects the very fabric of our community, and that’s why we’ve made it our mission to take action. Through our long-term partnership with Second Harvest, we’ve seen the incredible difference that consistent support can make. Every meal provided, every life touched, strengthens our community and brings us closer to a brighter, more secure future for all. We took action because we know that hunger is an issue we can’t afford to ignore. You can take action too. Join us in supporting Second Harvest and help make Northwestern Pennsylvania a place where no one goes hungry. #NWPAFoodBank #HungerActionMonth #HAM2024
