🚀 Union.ai Unveils Flyte Agents Framework for Enhanced Workflow Orchestration Union.ai has announced the release of Flyte Agents framework to their workflow orchestrator Flyte. The added feature streamlines the incorporation of hosted services, facilitating application development in machine learning, data engineering, and data analytics. Flyte has evolved since 2016 to clearly separate user requirements from infrastructure management. Users can now independently define resources like data models, while infrastructure teams efficiently align these definitions to managed services through the use of plugins— a method for ensuring the adaptability of code across evolving infrastructure versions. The Flyte Agents operate as stateless entities that utilize gRPC protocols to initiate tasks with external services. This mechanism reduces the need for multiple sensor pods, optimizing resource use and enabling scalability, with task status reliably managed by Flyte Propeller. A key advancement with Flyte Agents is the capacity for local execution. Agents provide local testing and development by leveraging a protobuf interface, allowing for interoperability across different programming implementations. The framework supports both asynchronous tasks, such as processing on Databricks, and synchronous tasks involving immediate data transactions. Union.ai's upcoming offerings include detailed development patterns for Flyte Agents, bolstering users' abilities to create custom integrations with the framework.
