After much thought and discussion, Score Campus and Let's Flip have decided to deep dive into Vietnam and Indonesia. Why? 1. Is there so much more money there to be earned? This is the first question most will ask. Yes, but let's be responsible. 2. Are parents more open minded there? Well, maybe a few years ago but not really any more. They want the best grades too! 3. Are schools there different? Yes and no. They want to be different. They look to countries like us for ideas even though I feel they are doing better. But there are gaps that clearer and more visible in Indonesia and Vietnam. There is just a tad bit more humility and they are at the "dry sponge" state. SIUT and IT Park Samarkand: New Perspectives for Collaboration In a bid to secure a promising future for both SIUT and students, our university is strategically fostering partnerships with international and local organizations, both in the realm of higher education and professional endeavors. One notable ally in this endeavor is the Samarkand Regional Branch of IT Park. With the goal of enhancing collaboration in the development and refinement of the startup ecosystem, a Memorandum of Understanding was officially signed on November 21 of this year between the Samarkand Regional Branch of IT-Park and SIUT. Under this memorandum, the parties have committed to collaborate in the following areas: Start-up Ecosystem Development: Joint efforts in advancing the startup ecosystem and executing collaborative projects in the IT sphere. Training and Seminars: Organization of training sessions and seminars for the academic staff, focusing on the implementation of specialized programs. Academic Exchange: Facilitation of academic exchanges involving professors and trainers to implement individualized programs. Resource Mobilization: Attracting donors, grants, and other financial resources to support mutual initiatives. 🏋🏽♀️ Coming from a culture that glorifies relentless hard work and views rest as a sign of weakness, I used to pride myself on my ability to hustle non-stop and chase big dreams. All in parallel: job, studies, some random courses, self-development books, side-projects, completing that stupid Duolingo streak of the language I don't even need, meditating every day because "they say it helps", saying yes to everything and everyone, staying social and cheerful—all on hyperdrive! 🚀 Surprise surprise - that's not sustainable, and after a major burnout a couple of years ago I realized that I need to change something. And I did! Many things actually. a) I stopped measuring my self-worth by my achievements (once a dreamer for Forbes 30under30, now I couldn’t care less). b) I began taking guilt-free rest whenever my body or mind signaled fatigue (taking time off = less stress = more focus = better outcomes). c) I started filtering out social expectations and tuning in to my authentic self (e.g. I abandoned the marathon idea because I genuinely dislike running). d) I found a hobby that taught me how to enjoy the journey rather than expect immediate results (learning to surf as an adult is a very humbling experience). e) I started recognizing my efforts and celebrating small wins (only then did I realize just how much I was juggling). And much more. Don't get me wrong, I still work hard and set high goals for myself, but I've learned to prioritize calmness just as much. So, when Katie invited me to join a panel on afterwork hobbies as a way to unwind, I couldn't resist. And wow, it was an incredible experience, largely thanks to Georgia and Niloufar, who brought some truly unconventional ideas and insights to the table. Also!
