Tranquility at its finest! Repost• #square3architecture Hunkered into the hillside, this home is like an extension of the surrounding natural landscape. Its distinctive architectural style is modern, yet organic, characterized by its low pitch shed roof shapes and a warm composition of natural finish materials like stone, wood and steel. The siting and overall floor plan of the home is characterized by a strong curved axis mimicking the natural topography of the site. The spaces of the home are arranged along the axis, taking full advantage of the views and integrating the structure with the land. #naturalstone #stoneveener #metalroof #metalroofing #cedarsiding #woodsiding #siding #hillside #house #residentialarchitecture #siliconvalleyarchitect #architecturephotography #architecturedesign #newhome #architectureusa #contemporary #interiordesign #residentialdesign #modernhomedesign #contemporaryhomedesign #modernhome #contemporaryhome #contemporaryfacade

This architectural design is unique due to its striking cantilevered structure that appears to defy gravity. The upper volume, a solid concrete mass, floats over a fully glazed lower level, which creates a dramatic visual and structural statement. The design achieves a balance between heavy and light, opacity and transparency. It also plays with the concept of inside-outside living; the glass walls of the ground floor allow the interior spaces to extend seamlessly to the outdoor water features and landscaping, enhancing the sense of openness. Additionally, the reflective pool surrounding the building not only adds to the serene atmosphere but also amplifies the illusion of the building floating above the water. This design blurs the boundaries between the man-made and the natural, resulting in a tranquil, modernist form set within a serene environment.

The latest in our series on popular architectural styles is Georgian. This is the name given to the set of architectural styles current between 1714 to 1830, with the name coming from the succession of monarchs named George who ruled at this time. Georgian architecture can still be seen in many places around the UK, from neoclassical country houses, such as The Grange at Northington in Hampshire, to grand terraces, with one of the most famous examples being the Royal Crescent in Bath. Classical and renaissance architecture had a heavy influence on the development of the Georgian style, reflected in the balance and height of the houses both externally and internally. Georgian architecture is very distinctive, with characteristics including three to four storeys, sash windows with smaller panes, symmetrical stone, brick, or stucco walls, often in a uniform colour, and a balanced interior layout. This design is a stunning example of organic architecture, drawing inspiration from natural forms and shapes. The spherical structure is sliced and peeled open in sections, revealing the interior and creating balconies and windows. This gives the building a sense of openness, allowing the interior and exterior spaces to flow into each other. The external framework, reminiscent of both a rib cage and the branches of a tree, creates a strong visual statement of natural form and function. It combines the strength and solidity of the materials with the elegance of the design. The incorporation of the spiral staircase is not only functional but also acts as a central design element, echoing the building's overall curvature. This design reimagines the living space as a work of art, integrating it with the surrounding landscape and making the structure itself a living ecosystem.

...the alterations and additions are meticulously planned to accommodate the needs of the client; providing improved living spaces, circulation flow, and amenities, whilst optimising the existing structure’s layout. Crucially there is only 14m2 of addition, with the bulk of the architectural moves made whilst preserving the original footprint, and even much of the original external brickwork and footings. ...number 50, leabrook! Engineered concrete stairs are highly effective at reducing noise transmission between floors, making them an ideal choice for multi-story buildings. What is a Rater tail? Rafter tails are the lower end of a rafter that extends beyond the wall of a building, often exposed and visible under the eaves or roof overhang. In traditional or decorative architecture, these tails can be left plain, cut in a decorative design, or covered with fascia boards. They play both a structural and aesthetic role, contributing to the roof's support and the building's visual appeal. In construction, rafter tails might require maintenance or treatment because they are often exposed to the elements, leading to potential weathering or rot over time. #construction #carpentry #carpenterslife #roofing
