This is a torpedo in the Tallinn harbour area. Our team was challenged by the Estonian Navy to find and image the object, which was put there intentionally for diver trainings. We successfully demonstrated our Scout 2’s capability to autonomously map the seabed in high resolution, despite turbid conditions underwater. Stay tuned for the whole story. Thanks to NATO DIANA for selecting Lobster Robotics out of 1300+ applications to join this unique first cohort. Airbus Helicopters, in collaboration with partners such as Leonardo and Thales, recently demonstrated the impressive integration of piloted helicopters with unmanned aerial systems (drones) through a large-scale exercise held in France and Italy. This demonstration, part of the European MUSHER project, showcased the potential of a manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T) system that could revolutionize both military and civilian operations. One key scenario tested was a counter-piracy operation where a drone first served as a scout before being taken over by a helicopter for intervention. The exercise highlighted the interoperability of different systems across multiple countries, emphasizing the ability to share real-time data and control drones directly from helicopters, improving situational awareness and decision-making. This innovation represents a major advancement in operational flexibility and the protection of critical assets. This success marks a significant step in developing next-generation collaborative technologies, demonstrating the potential for integrated, multi-national aerial systems in complex missions.
Airbus Helicopters and European partners demonstrate collaboration between helicopters and unmanned systems. We have conducted a full scale demonstration of a manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T) system developed as part of a project funded by the European Union and code-named MUSHER. The demonstration involved multiple manned helicopters and unmanned systems connected to a single MUM-T network. The MUSHER demonstration consisted of various scenarios involving the different aircraft flying simultaneously in France and in Italy. The missions were based on concepts of operations defined by the ministries of defense of France, Italy and Spain. 🚀 Rocket-Assisted Takeoff (RATO): A Game-Changer for Overloaded Aircraft When aircraft are heavily loaded or operating in difficult environments, #RATO can be the key to successful takeoff. By using solid-fuel rockets, RATO provides additional thrust, allowing planes to lift off safely and efficiently even with extreme payloads or shorter runways. 🎯 Example: One famous use of RATO was with the Lockheed C-130 Hercules, a military transport aircraft that needed to take off from short or rugged runways in critical missions. RATO allowed the fully loaded C-130 to launch quickly, proving the system's effectiveness in high-stakes operations. But what’s the difference between RATO and #JetAssistedTakeoff (#JATO)? RATO uses solid-fuel rockets for that crucial extra push during takeoff. JATO, on the other hand, employs jet engines to boost thrust, often used in fighter jets or smaller aircraft where speed and precision are critical. Both systems showcase the ingenuity of #AerospaceEngineering, offering solutions for safer, more efficient flight operations in challenging conditions. ✈️ These technologies push the boundaries of what's possible, ensuring even the heaviest aircraft can take off and perform effectively. #Aviation #FlightTech #AircraftEngineering #Innovation #Aerospace #EngineeringSolutions #AerospaceInnovation #Scalian

In a groundbreaking milestone, the US Air Force orchestrated the inaugural dogfight between a human pilot and an AI-operated fighter jet at California's Edwards Air Force Base in September of last year. The AI-controlled F-16 engaged in high-speed aerial combat with a manned F-16, executing both defensive and offensive maneuvers, including close-range dogfighting, at speeds exceeding 1,200 miles per hour. DARPA unveiled footage of the event, showcasing the autonomous aircraft, dubbed X-62A VISTA, a modified F-16 integrated with AI technology, heralding the pioneering use of machine learning in fighter jet control. This historic development, hailed by DARPA, marks a significant leap in aerospace advancement. #AuroxaTech #USAirForce #AerospaceTechnology #ArtificialIntelligence #FighterJets #AviationHistory #AutonomousAircraft #DARPA #MachineLearning #MilitaryInnovation #FutureOfFlight #TechnologicalAdvancement

In the heat of Ukraine's fight for freedom, two women are turning the defense industry upside down with the innovative Dignitas Fund, with few alternatives in sight. In just a few short years, Lyubov Shipovich and Maria Berlinska have rolled out a powerful mix of online courses and hands-on training, turning out an impressive 92,000 drone pilots. They’ve gone even further, launching initiatives to empower veterans with amputations and paving the way for Ukrainian women to take charge in aerial reconnaissance. The next goal? To team up with schools and weave drone technology into the curriculum, setting the stage for the next wave of innovators. After their advocacy helped propel drones into a standalone military branch, the co-founders launched an even bolder nationwide marathon. Now, their People’s FPV initiative is empowering Ukrainians to craft drones from scratch, with thousands of self-made FPVs heading to the frontlines. The Air Force is facing a significant challenge that has the potential to drastically change the nature of warfare as we know it. The rise of uncrewed drones has shifted the balance of power in the skies above the modern battlefield, making it increasingly difficult for manned aircraft to achieve air superiority. The drone revolution has ushered in a new era where masses of unmanned aircraft now dominate the airspace, posing a major threat to the mission of the Air Force. Their ability to operate in contested air littoral, a critical new subdomain of warfare, has already been demonstrated in conflicts such as the fighting in Ukraine, where drones have been the primary force in the skies above ground forces. This paradigm shift necessitates a fundamental transformation within the Air Force, requiring us to rethink our strategies, capabilities, and technologies to adapt to this new reality. Traditional methods of achieving air superiority may no longer be effective in future conflicts, and we must be prepared to innovate and evolve in a short period of time. Adapting to this new landscape will be a complex and challenging task that requires significant resources and a shift in mindset. It is crucial that the Air Force invests in the development of counter-drone technologies and tactics, while also leveraging the capabilities of unmanned aircraft to maintain a competitive edge in the skies. This shift in the balance of power is a cause for concern, but it also presents an opportunity for the Air Force to showcase its ability to adapt and innovate in the face of new challenges. By addressing this issue head-on, we can position ourselves to maintain air superiority and continue to fulfill our mission effectively. The rise of uncrewed drones as a dominant force in the skies is a game-changer, and it will require a collective effort and decisive action to ensure that the Air Force remains a formidable presence in future conflicts. We must embrace this challenge and work towards finding solutions that will allow us to succeed in the evolving landscape of modern warfare. #AirForce #Drones #FutureofWarfare #AdaptandInnovate #AirSuperiority #MilitaryTechnology 🚀 #military #pentagon #nato #intelligencecommunity #army #navy #veterans
