Ok, Real talk, the following is a video journal I shared last year after selling Qreative Edge. The sale was quickly followed by the launch of Cray, a 4 day trek on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu and a summer to remember. I suddenly found myself back in a routine and in a dip. This is the side of entrepreneurship that people don’t really talk about. Trust me, I checked YouTube and Google to find somebody who would get it. All I got were “I bought a Lamborghini after selling my company and now Im going to travel the world in my Lamborghini.” All of a sudden Im transferring my baby Qreative Edge, that I created from scratch, to someone else. Qreative was a massive gamble on myself. I left a thriving career as a dance teacher to be a novice and nobody in video marketing. So here’s the thing about entrepreneurship that doesn’t typically make it on the perfectly curated feeds of Instagram Hustlers or LinkedIn Gurus (Harrison Kauffman is the only guru I listen to). There are dips, serious dips. Often times right after wins. Imposter Syndrome, Depression and Burnout were unwanted guests at my privileged pity party. I don’t say all of this for you to feel bad for me but rather to just document and share that this exists. That if you are going through a dip after a big win you may feel a weird unwarranted sense of “What Now?” I believe that one of the greatest privileges is having options. Being able to choose your next step from multiple choices is a gift. And that is what I keep reminding myself to get me out of my dip. I handed my baby over to the person I trust most, Shimon Detwiler. I have a new baby that may not send me around the world in a Lamborghini but it does afford me to travel the world and connect with some incredible Travel Content Creators. This rollercoaster is what I’ve signed up for and I’m learning everyday how to navigate the highs and the lows. 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴: 𝗠𝘆 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 Imagine a lone egret, standing tall amidst the water's vastness, might seem like the picture of solitary flight.   But look closer. It's part of a larger flock! That's the essence of the solopreneur journey, too. We may fly solo, charting our own course, but we don't have to do it alone. 𝗠𝘆 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗮 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗹𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝘆𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳, 𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗺𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿. Losing my job felt like losing my identity, but in its wake, I discovered a community of like-minded adventurers, experts in Data, Strategies, Content Creators, Merchandising, and Surfing. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗺𝘆 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿, 𝘄𝗲'𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳: • Shared stories and support: Reminding each other that even solo flight has its updrafts. • Idea exchange and inspiration: No challenge is too big for a flock. • Encouragement and camaraderie:  "You've got this" from a fellow flyer reminds us that we're not just individuals, but a force in motion. • Collaboration and co-creation: We're Partners, sharing and collaborating to create synergies that make the entire flock soar higher. **Never be afraid to ‘REPURPOSE’** In my endeavours as a Solopreneur I’ve discovered the importance of Pivoting, Repurposing and Realignment. In this photo are two acoustic panels that I had created.. Made new with just an addition of new cloth. Last year one of the biggest changes to my Startup was the name and the business model. I initially called my business ‘INSPRXN STUDIO’ I won’t go into the reasons why. Needless to say I took some time to rethink the vision and the trajectory of my business. I put pen to paper and evaluated what skills I could bring to the table. I wrote down ways I could add the most value to the business, and podmatic® was born. I put together the brand vision and identity (Black and Yellow), Simple yet impactful. I then embarked on connecting with the community I would be serving. I joined a number of regional Business and Networking organisations and began preaching the gospel of Podmatic. Long story short, I knew that I had to move my business from home in order for it to be aligned with the new vision. In doing so I’ve learned so much about myself as a founder. In the last few weeks I’ve been CEO of Painting and Decorating, Moving, Procurement, Negotiating, Assembly, Installation and so much more! Founding a business seems so glamorous, but it’s actually more demanding than most people think. I’m personally thankful that I’ve been able to live up to the tasks that have befallen me. When I think about it I’m actually thankful for all the moments of past work that prepared me for the role. Work never stops! Whether you are doing it for yourself or for someone else. Always take pride in what you do! Take the opportunity to learn and get better at every turn. Reflecting on a Year of Solopreneurship: The Struggles and the Dilemma A year ago, I left a long and fulfilling career in education to pursue my passion for photography. The journey has been nothing short of a rollercoaster, filled with exhilarating highs and challenging lows. As a solopreneur, I've experienced firsthand the incredible freedom and creativity that comes with running my own business. However, the reality of financial uncertainty and the relentless effort required to stay afloat and successful in a saturated market cannot be ignored. This past year has taught me so much about resilience, adaptability, and the importance of believing in one's vision. I've had the privilege of working with amazing clients, transforming their headshots and portraits into powerful tools that help them make memorable first impressions. I find myself at a crossroads, torn between pushing forward with my dream or considering a return to the stability of a corporate job. The prospect of stepping back into a structured environment with a steady income is tempting, but so is the thought of what could be achieved if I continue to persevere. To my fellow entrepreneurs and small business owners, I know many of you face similar dilemmas. How do you navigate these tough times?
