Hi folks, hope this is OK to post. I'm going to do an ultramarathon on October 27 at the Tussey Mountainback 50K, to raise funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This will be my 12th event for LLS -- ten full marathons and one half marathon so far, and this one will be 31 miles, with 3,200 feet of climb. It's gonna be HARD!! My husband of nearly 43 years has Central Nervous System Lymphoma, a vicious, aggressive cancer that can kill within a couple of months. He's responding really well to treatment, but this is a rare cancer that hasn't had a lot of research. I'm hoping LLS can help with that, but besides that, their funding helped create the drugs Gleevec and Sprycel, which have saved perhaps millions of lives, including my sister-in-law's -- she is in permanent remission from her leukemia as long as she can take Sprycel. I hope you can help. LLS has a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, with a 97% score, so you can be confident about where your money is going. Today is National Philanthropy Day!♥️ In this special episode of Top 3, our #ConnectorsWhoCare Philanthropic Club and Podcast Club collaborated to spotlight Mission Kids Child Advocacy Center, a nonprofit dedicated to aiding child abuse victims. TOC's HR Partner, Stephanie McClure, had a compelling conversation with Leslie Slingsby, Chief Executive Officer, of Services and Operations who shares how Mission Kids provides vital services: forensic interviewing, therapy, and family advocacy, aiding victims of different ages. Good afternoon! I'm making my last-minute plea for donations to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, which I am raising money for in the Night the Light event this Saturday. I'm a huge fan of the LLS, and have run ten full marathons and one half marathon to raise money for them. Their funding literally saved my sister-in-law's life, as she takes a drug that keeps her in permanent remission (as long as she takes the drug) -- a drug that LLS funding made possible. Now, my husband has Central Nervous System Lymphoma, a rare but curable cancer. Enough! We need to wipe out leukemia and lymphoma!
