🛍Day 5: Skirting Around The Issue Mini, Midi, Knee length, Maxi, A line, Pleated, Flared, Wrap, Pencil Tiered ....SKIRT! 🤦♀️ How's a girl to keep up and know when, where and how to rock a skirt this season?🤷♀️ Vogue says " The Bolder The Better"🧨 and on the catwalk they're sporting foiled midis, ruffled minis, feathered trims, suede maxis and of course the obligatory spring florals.👀 Let's keep it simple ladies. Here are my 3 top tips. 🫄Know Your Body Type: Choose skirts that flatter your body shape. A-line skirts are universally flattering while pencil skirts accentuate curves. ⏳️Play With Lengths: Experiment with different skirt lengths and don't be scared to go longer. A rule I observe is "always below the knee." Midi skirts like the one I have on are versatile while mini skirts....well they're mini. If you have to keep pulling it down and adjusting it all day it probably needs to go. Free yourself please. 🧩Versatility Is Vital: Opt for a skirt that can be styled in multiple ways and paired with different tops and accessories. Versatile skirts offer more outfit options and value for your wardrobe. Balance your outfit by pairing fitted skirts with loose tops and vice versa. So there you have it! Drop a comment below if you have skirt wars or if you're ditching the trousers. ✨ #Skirts #FashionTips #SpringSummer2024 🌟 Hi, I'm Liza Vou and I help women empower themselves by mastering their personal style through an understanding of the impact of image and personal branding on every aspect of their life. Think a white tee is too basic? You’d be surprised how versatile it can be! Here are 5 creative ways to style a classic white tee: ✔️ Layer it with a blazer Instantly transform your casual tee into a polished look by pairing it with a structured blazer. Perfect for those days when you need to look professional but still want to stay comfy. ✔️ Tuck it into high-waisted jeans A timeless combo! Tucking your white tee into high-waisted jeans creates a flattering silhouette that’s both stylish and easy to pull off. ✔️ Knot it at the waist Add a fun twist (literally) by tying a knot at the waist. Alice did not do 'tucking in'. She was terrified by the idea of exposing her hip area. (Quite a common phobia for us pear shapes, I've discovered!) Instead she wore longer tops, often loose in shape that cut off around the upper thigh which in her words, 'hid her problem areas'. Then she met me. I explained that whilst I completely understand how it feels to be wider on the lower half than the top (I am also this shape FYI), what she was in fact achieving with her long tops was the following: a) Hiding the narrowest part of her body b) Drawing a line right across the upper thigh/lower hip region which was her widest point Important things to understand about pear shapes: 1. Pear shapes, believe it or not, do not necessarily have wide hips (pear shapes can be XS size people) Your hips are not a so-called 'problem area' that needs to be hidden. 2. A pear shape is defined by narrow shoulders and a narrow rib cage which proportionally makes the hips APPEAR broader. 3. A pear shape has a longer gap between the rib cage and hip bones than a rectangle or apple shape creating more 'soft space' for the waist to dip in. So what could Alice do to look and feel better? Tuck in her top and here's why: 1. Tucking in to high waist trousers highlights her narrowest area 2. Cutting the outfit higher up rather than lower down the body, elongates the legs which has a slimming effect 3. Ditch the skinny jeans. Straight, wide or bootcut shapes are much more flattering as they straighten the leg shape preventing the 'carrot leg' effect. This is the tip of the ice berg for Alice's style journey. She went on to learn exactly what each type of garment needs to look like in order to be the right cut for her from tops to dresses to shoes. Not a pear shape? What is the most important thing when adding any new piece in your wardrobe? Is it price ? Is it it quality? Is it he material? Well no. The most important thing that you should look out for is versatility! Whether or not this piece will fit in your current wardrobe and if it does whether you can combine it with the rest of the pieces in your wardrobe? For example take this beautiful Navy Double breasted jacket with a beautiful glen check pattern. The jacket belongs to a suit but because of the Glen check pattern I can easily also dress it down with the jeans as shown in the pic below. If your wardrobe is filled with athleisure then going for a full suit may not be the best choice instead going for a sports jacket and accompanying it with jeans may be the better choice . On the other hand if your wardrobe is filled with suits then all of a sudden going for a light wash jeans or faded jeans may not be this wise choice. Whenever you decide to include a new piece in your wardrobe instead of having an impulse buy always stop and think will this item fit in my wardrobe? If not what are the other pieces that I will need to buy with it to actually style. #menswearstylist #personalstylist #imageconsultant #fashionstylist #imagecoach #stylecoach #fashioncoach #wardrobestylist #wardrobeconsultant #styleconsultant #bigandstylish

"Can you suggest what to wear with yellow pants?" she asked. A client contacted me seeking advice on how to style her yellow pants. Even though she had bought them earlier, she found it challenging to pair them with other clothes from her wardrobe. I recommended we review her closet to see if she had any compatible pieces. After examining her wardrobe, we discovered she had multiple white tops, a navy blazer, and a cardigan. As she required more versatile tops, I suggested a few options. These included a soft periwinkle top and light blue shoes for a subtle yet fashionable appearance. I recommended a printed navy top, white shoes, and a bag for a more vibrant choice. I picked these options carefully to ensure they would work seamlessly with the other pieces in her wardrobe. It is essential to have a wardrobe with versatile pieces that can be mixed and matched to create different outfits. My client already had various items, such as white tops, navy tops, blazers, and cardigans, which could be paired with her yellow pants to create at least seven new outfits. So, if you're ever thinking of buying colored pants but are uncertain how to match them with your existing wardrobe, always consider how they will complement your entire wardrobe. What color pants would you like to introduce into your wardrobe?

Happy Wednesday, everyone! It's time for your weekly dose of headshot wardrobe advice. Whether you're preparing for a new headshot or just refreshing your professional look, here are some tips to keep in mind: Solid Colors: Opt for solid, neutral colors like navy, gray, or black. These shades are timeless and ensure that you remain the focus of your headshot. 🎨 Fit is Key: Make sure your outfit fits well. A tailored suit or well-fitting blouse can make a huge difference in how polished you look. 👌 Avoid Distracting Patterns: Steer clear of busy patterns or loud prints that can distract from your face. Keep it simple and classic. ❌🌺 Accessorize Wisely: Choose minimalistic accessories. A watch or a simple necklace can add a touch of personality without overwhelming your look. ⌚💍 Comfort Matters: Above all, wear something that makes you feel confident and comfortable. Your comfort will shine through in your photos. 😊 Remember, your headshot is a key part of your professional brand. Make it count with the right wardrobe choices! I'm often asked by clients with a Classic Style Personality how to update their look, but still stay in their comfort zone. Here's a few tips: 1) Shoes & bags: Look for trend pieces that still conform to your personality. Raffia remains popular and pairs perfectly with modern mules. 2) Look for tailored pieces. Im seeing lots of shorts co-ords this year; either with blazers or waistcoats. These are excellent buys for your curated wardrobe as they can be worn separately too. 3) Smart t-shirts: Sloppy tops aren't for you, instead, choose better quality in styles that work with your body shape. 4) Statement pieces. These always sort out the wheat from the chaff! Why? Because they show confidence. Try adding a punchy coloured top or cardigan to your usual summer trousers. 5) Watch the hemline. A dress or skirt finishing just below the knee can date an outfit. Try going longer or on the knee but make sure it doesn't finish at your widest point. 6) You don't have to wear print if you don't want to. A block colour can be just as striking. Choose something that is flattering to your shape & colouring. Are you ready to update your style? Let me help you. Elevate your wardrobe to command respect, draw attention, and project the authority you've earned in your career!
When I hear "I want to look professional, put together, and polished" I always ask " What the hell does this mean?" And don't get me wrong I know what looking: professional, put together, and polished means But when I hear this I simply have no idea what it means for YOU. I mean.... I could give you a random list of clothes you should buy to look professional, But trust me it wouldn't be your version of professional, polished, and put-together So when you can't simply identify what it physically looks like for you You will have a hard time achieving this goal Let me explain it If you look at my picture: I am wearing a yellow printed button-up blouse and pleated purple wide-leg pants! I feel polished and professional in the outfit. I can say that because I figured out: - What colors do I love to wear - What type of silhouettes I am being drawn to (button up shirt, collard blouses, crewneck sweater, shirt dresses) - What is the most flattering neckline for me (v-neck, squareneck, round neck) - What type of prints I like (florals, stripes, geometrics) So if you look at my outfit from your perspective Write it down: what do you like and what you don't like about it? That's the first step. You need to know what elements of the wardrobe you like, want to wear, and feel good in. Then you can start building a wardrobe that will represent your version of: -professional -polished -put together All are not the same. You have to find your own version! --------------------------------------------- If you don't know how to get started and want your wardrobe to empower you at work and in your business take the personal style quiz. Personal Stylist & Style Consultant🔹Helping busy women and men build a wardrobe full of endless choices for every occasion 🔹 Empowering women and men to feel and look their best
❗BEFORE BUYING, IDENTIFY ANY GAPS IN YOUR WARDROBE ❗ Recently, I've come to realise the need for an elegant pair of pumps to elevate my current wardrobe. After browsing online, I found a stunning pair in fuchsia. What I adore about them is their versatility—thanks to a 4 cm block heel, they strike the perfect balance between stability and elegance, while the pointed toe adds a flattering touch to my legs. They effortlessly complement a variety of outfits, from jeans to dresses, shirts, and tailored trousers. Upon receiving the parcel, I eagerly tried them on and began experimenting with different pieces from my wardrobe. To my delight, I discovered numerous new outfit combinations! Today, I'm excited to share one of these newfound ensembles with you. Previously, I hadn't thought to pair certain elements together due to the lack of suitable shoes. However, with the addition of these pumps, I was able to create a chic and professional look by pairing them with a navy suit (trousers and blazer bought separately), along with my favourite silk dotted shirt and a belt featuring a golden buckle. This experience reinforced the importance of shopping our existing closets first, identifying any gaps, and making strategic purchases to enhance our wardrobes' versatility and ease of mixing and matching. How about you? Do you take time to identify any gaps in your wardrobe before shopping, or do you tend to make spontaneous purchases? #styletips #toptip #businessoutfit #outfitinspiration #personalstylist

It was too hot for pants or layers, making my client feel stuck in her style. So we met virtually to create 21 **heat-proof** looks from her existing wardrobe! We started with dresses for easy, one-and-done outfits 🎯creating 2 looks. Next, we used her 2 neutral pairs of shorts to create 16 outfits. For skirts, she had one printed option, which limited choices due to her mostly printed tops. (This happens a lot—when you focus on single pieces instead of outfits, it’s easy to end up with clothes you hardly wear.) We found 3 tops that paired perfectly with her skirt, adding 3 more looks! In the end, her summer style got a major upgrade with 21 new outfits, transforming her from stressed over what to wear to focusing on what matters most—her family, friends, and career.
