Seventeen years ago, I embarked on a journey that many compare to having a child. It’s been a wild ride, full of sleepless nights, unexpected challenges and moments of pure joy. But instead of diapers and bedtime stories, this “baby” came with client briefs and pitch decks. Live Communications SA was born in 2007, and like any new parent, I had no idea what I was getting into. There were tantrums (usually from printers that decided to jam at the worst possible moments), teething problems (also known as figuring out how to balance creative vision with client budgets), and the inevitable sleepless nights spent prepping for all those “big presentations” and crazy deadlines. But just like a child, Live Communications grew. First, it learned to crawl, picking up small projects here and there, then it started to walk, gaining momentum with bigger clients and more complex campaigns. And before I knew it, it was running—taking on challenges that would have made that fresh-faced founder back in 2007 break out in a cold sweat. Now, at 17 years old, Live Communications is in its rebellious teenage phase. It’s confident, ambitious and sometimes even surprises me with what it can achieve. We’ve seen trends come and go, watched competitors rise and fall, and even weathered a global pandemic (talk about a growth spurt!). Of course, there were moments when I wanted to ground it - when things didn’t go as planned, or when the business seemed to have a mind of its own. But like any proud parent, I can’t help but smile when I see how far we’ve come. To everyone who has been part of this journey - clients, colleagues and partners - you’ve been the village that helped raise this “kid.” Here’s to the next chapter, where I’m sure Live Communications will continue to surprise, challenge, and, most importantly, make us all proud. LIVECOM isn’t just bigger than we imagined; it’s smarter, faster and still leading the charge in this ever-changing landscape. And if you see me at the next pitch, just know I’m that proud parent cheering from the side lines. After all, this is the best kind of growing pains.
